Today, we celebrate Juneteenth ✊🏿an annual commemoration of the end of slavery.

Although President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation freed the slaves in 1863, it could not be enforced in many places in the South until the Civil War ended in 1865.
Sadly, it took more than two years for that news to reach enslaved people in Galveston, Texas.

We honour and celebrate the day ALL slaves became free, & we continue to fight for racial equality for ALL Black people. 🖤
