It’s icy out there! Here’s what to do if you’ve had a slip and fall 👇

1️⃣ Don’t brush it off.
Adrenaline can mask pain. What feels “not so bad” can turn into neck stiffness, low back pain, or headaches days later.

2️⃣ Document everything.
If it happened on ice, in a parking lot, at work, or in a public space — take photos and make note of the time and location.

3️⃣ Get assessed early.
Falls often impact the spine, hips, wrists, and shoulders. Early evaluation helps prevent long-term dysfunction and chronic pain patterns.

4️⃣ Watch for delayed symptoms.
Headaches, dizziness, reduced range of motion, radiating pain, or numbness are signs you shouldn’t ignore.

5️⃣ Know your options.
Whether it’s chiropractic, physiotherapy, massage therapy, or collaborative care — early treatment supports better recovery.

At Kinesis Health Associates, we see slip and fall injuries often — especially during Nova Scotia winters. If you’ve had a fall (even a “minor” one), don’t wait until it becomes something bigger.

Your body whispers before it screams. Listen to it. 🤍

Happy National Pet Day from Gemstone Pugs! ✨🐾

Today is all about celebrating the animals who make our homes happier, louder, and filled with unconditional love.

Drop a photo of your pet in the comments and tell us their name — we want to see every squishy face, wagging tail, and fuzzy friend!

Here at Gemstone Pugs, we’re especially celebrating the heart of our program — our four incredible mama girls:

💎 Ruby & Sapphire — our beautiful fawn sisters
🖤 Diamond & Onyx — our black sisters with their signature white chest patches

These girls are family first. They live in our home, are deeply loved, and are the foundation of every Gemstone puppy. Their health, temperament, and happiness will always come before anything else.

If you have a Gemstone baby at home, your pup carries a little sparkle from one of these amazing mamas.

Now it’s your turn — show us your pets! Let’s fill this thread with paws and personality. 💕🐶✨

It’s National Pet Day and we’re celebrating the furry family members who keep us active, grounded, and smiling.

At Kinesis Health Associates, many of our practitioners are proud pet owners. We know firsthand how much our animals contribute to our physical and mental well-being — from daily walks to stress relief to unconditional love.

Featured here are Dr. E’s three Pugs, the unofficial (but very committed) members of the Kinesis team.

Now we want to see yours.

Drop a photo of your pet in the comments and tell us their name. Do they get you out walking? Keep you company while you stretch? Supervise your work-from-home days?

Let’s fill this feed with paws, personality, and the pets that keep us moving.

Whiplash Isn’t Just a Car Accident Injury 🚗

When people hear “whiplash,” they often think of motor vehicle accidents - but that’s only part of the story.

Whiplash is a rapid back-and-forth movement of the neck that can happen in many situations, including:

• Slip and falls on ice
• Sports injuries (hockey, soccer, football, skiing, gymnastics)
• Falls down stairs
• Workplace incidents
• Physical altercations
• Sudden jolts on amusement park rides
• Even a hard stop while biking or ATV riding

The symptoms don’t always show up right away. You might feel fine in the moment, only to wake up the next day with:

• Neck pain and stiffness
• Headaches
• Shoulder or upper back pain
• Dizziness
• Reduced range of motion
• Jaw discomfort

Left untreated, whiplash can turn into chronic pain, persistent headaches, and long-term mobility issues.

Early assessment is key.

If you’ve experienced a sudden jolt, fall, or impact - even if it “wasn’t that bad” - it’s important to have it properly evaluated. Our team at Kinesis Health Associates can assess the injury, identify underlying tissue damage, and create a treatment plan to reduce inflammation, restore mobility, and prevent long-term complications.

Don’t wait for the pain to worsen. The sooner you’re assessed, the better the outcome.

More daylight makes it easier to move - whether that’s getting outside for a walk, being active after work, or simply feeling a little more motivated to take care of your body. As the days slowly stretch, many people naturally begin to move more, breathe deeper, and spend extra time outdoors.

That shift matters. Regular movement supports joint health, circulation, posture, balance, and overall physical and mental wellbeing - especially after a long winter of shorter days and less activity.

And there’s a reason it feels like we’re turning a corner…

✨ We’ve officially made it through the darkest stretch of the year ✨

From November 4 to February 6, parts of Nova Scotia experience 10 hours of daylight or less. Today marks the first day of the year with 10 full hours of daylight.

Right now, we’re gaining 2 minutes and 45 seconds of daylight, with that gain increasing by 2 seconds every day. In about a month, we’ll reach 12 hours of daylight, and 7 pm sunsets will return for the first time since September.

Small changes add up. A few extra minutes of daylight can mean more movement, better habits, and a healthier you - one step at a time.
