In SOMATIC practice, each time we pendiculation we increase the range of motion within a muscle. Pendiculation involves muscle contraction which alerts the brain, then muscle habits can change. During a stretch the brain is not on alert.
Somatics is a path to healing.

The benefits of SLOW somatic movements ~
1st, it helps to relax and regulate the nervous system.
2nd, it is key to rewiring the brain.
Slow movements allow the brain to notice details and quality of movement. This is new information for the brain. The brain then has the ability to adapt, rewire and change.
Slowing everything down allows the brain to learn new ways to move.

What is Somatic Yoga anyway?

Somatic yoga combines both yoga and somatics, focusing on our internal body sensations rather than achieving perfect form on the outside. It uses gentle pendiculative movements and breathwork to open the connection channels between our mind and body. In a nutshell this will aid in our healing of chronic pain and managing stress, with its gentle, slow, intentional movements. It’s a practice of self compassion as we offer kindness and awareness to ourselves when we listen to the whispers of our body.

It’s common to have a range of emotions happening as we experience life. With yoga, breath and movement allows your body to release emotions that are stored in your body. Somatic yoga in particular can be very beneficial.
