We are pleased to welcome Mitchell, a third-year medical student currently studying abroad at the RCSI School of Medicine in Dublin, Ireland, to our community.

Over the next few weeks, Mitchell will be working alongside our dedicated physicians in their primary care practices, our Emergency Department as well as our Medical Inpatient Unit to gain further insight into what rural family medicine has to offer here in Deep River. Please be sure to say hello and extend a warm welcome to Mitchell should you cross paths with him during his time here.

We are grateful to have medical learners like Hassait (left) and Mitchell (right) in our community and we hope that they will consider returning to practice here in the future.

Today we were proud to host a collaborative planning day here at Deep River and District Health in partnership with our Ottawa Valley Ontario Health Team - OVOHT.

Together with local service providers and community partners, we focused on strengthening adult mental health services in Deep River and District - sharing insights, identifying gaps, and building momentum toward better access, coordination, and care closer to home.

Thank you to all of our partners for their time and perspectives. This collaboration is an important step toward improving how adult mental health services are coordinated in our region. 🩵

🎉 Celebrating Growth & Achievement at DRDH 🎉

We’re proud to congratulate Jeff and Dale on the successful completion of their Personal Support Worker (PSW) certifications!

Both Jeff and Dale have grown their careers right here at DRDH - starting on our housekeeping and dietary teams and now stepping into new roles as certified PSWs. Through the Learn and Earn Accelerated Program with Humber College, they completed 12 weeks of online learning followed by 8 weeks of clinical placements at our organization.

Their journey reflects our commitment to supporting opportunities for our team to learn, grow, and thrive!

We’re also excited to share that two more team members are currently enrolled in the program, and we are wishing them every success as they continue their studies.🩵

Outbreak Notice – Medical Inpatient Unit

Please note that we are currently experiencing a Norovirus (Gastroenteritis) outbreak on our hospital’s Medical Inpatient Unit.

To help protect our patients, team members, and community, general visitation to the Medical Inpatient Unit is currently on hold.

Essential Caregivers (ECGs) only may visit at this time. Each patient may have up to two designated ECGs, who must check in with our Nursing Team and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) before visiting. Palliative and end-of-life visits can be discussed individually with our care team.

All volunteer programs are temporarily paused and will resume once the outbreak has been declared over.

We ask everyone to increase the frequency and diligence of handwashing. Hand hygiene is the most effective way to prevent the spread of norovirus, and traditional soap and water handwashing is the preferred method.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to manage this outbreak and keep everyone safe. 💙

Over the next few months, they’ll be joining us to experience the excitement and rewards of rural medicine here in Deep River. You might spot them in our Emergency Department, on the Medical Inpatient Unit, or at an upcoming clinic appointment - be sure to say hello and make them feel at home!

During their time with us, we’re excited to showcase not only what it’s like to be part of the team at DRDH, but also the perks of rural living, whether it’s enjoying snowy winter activities or experiencing the strong sense of community our town has to offer!

🎄✨ Holly Jolly Soirée ✨🎄

What a night! Thank you to all our team members and guests who joined us on Friday for our annual Holiday Party. The room was full of laughter, great food, and plenty of holiday cheer - exactly what we needed to kick off the season together.

A big congratulations to everyone who took home one of the amazing prizes throughout the evening! Of course, a heartfelt shout-out to our incredible Social Committee for their creativity, hard work, and behind-the-scenes magic in hosting such a memorable event.✨🧡

We’re grateful for his enthusiasm and support for DRDH. Community leadership comes in many forms - sometimes it’s diving into freezing water for a great cause!😉

Our brave (and slightly frozen) DRDH crew took the plunge yesterday at the Deep River & District Health Foundation’s annual Dip to Donate Polar Plunge - and they did it with big smiles, bigger energy, and very cold toes!

A huge shoutout to our incredible team members who jumped in to support our organization, including Mary, Jeff, Rebekah, Michaela, Agia, Dr. Quenneville, Megan, and Lynne. Your courage, commitment, and “type 2 fun” enthusiasm helped make this year’s event one to remember!

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, or cheered on our dippers!
