The pillar of Chinese Medicine is finding balance with nature and syncing with the seasons ✨
The best advice for fall: nourish the lungs ✨
Autumn is a time for warming, grounding foods that support digestion and prevent cold from entering the body.
• Favor cooked foods: soups, stews, congee, roasted root vegetables.
• Include seasonal produce: pumpkin, squash, sweet potato, apple, pear, daikon radish.
• Use warming spices (in moderation): cinnamon, ginger, garlic.
Avoid dry, spicy, and fried foods, which can aggravate dryness.
• Stay hydrated: drink warm water and herbal teas like chrysanthemum or licorice.
In TCM, wind and cold invade through the neck and back, weakening the immune system.
• Wear scarves or high collars, especially in the early morning and evening.
• Avoid getting chilled, especially after sweating (e.g. after workouts or showers).
Fall is a time of reflection and release, much like how trees shed their leaves.
• Lung energy is associated with grief and sadness—take time to process emotions.
• Practice breathing exercises, Qigong, or gentle meditation to stay centered.
• Journal, clean out your space, or let go of things you no longer need (emotional or physical).
As daylight shortens, your body benefits from more rest.
• Go to bed a bit earlier.
• Wake with the sun if possible.
• Support your Yin energy by slowing down in the evenings—less screen time, more calm.
