Based on our experience over the past six years at Krystel Medispa, these are the myths we consistently address during consultations:
1. “Skin needs to breathe.”
Skin receives oxygen through the bloodstream, not through pores. Without proper hydration and barrier support, it loses moisture and protection
- leading to premature aging and sensitivity.
2. “Oily skin doesn’t need moisturizer.”
In reality, dehydrated oily skin often produces even more sebum to compensate. Balanced hydration is essential to regulate oil production and maintain healthy skin function.
3. ”Good genetics replace SPF.”
Genetics do not protect against photoaging, pigmentation, or collagen breakdown. UV damage accumulates daily — even in winter, even in cloudy weather. Consistent sun protection is fundamental.
4. ”Serum replaces cream.”
A serum delivers active ingredients. A cream locks in hydration and reinforces the skin barrier.
They perform different roles and are most effective when used together.
5. “Face cream works for the eye area.”
The skin around the eyes is thinner and more delicate. Incorrect product choice can lead to puffiness, irritation, or milia.
6. ”Skin gets used to products.”
If your skin looks healthy and stable, there is no need to constantly change products. Skin does not become ‘lazy’ - it responds to consistency and appropriate care.
7. ”After 30, only anti-aging matters.”
We treat skin conditions, not age. At 30, someone may experience acne; at 20, someone may struggle with dehydration or barrier damage.
Skincare must be individualized.
8. ”Sensitive skin should be left alone.”Sensitive skin requires thoughtful support and barrier repair - not neglect.
