Medes was the vision of a community health nurse who noticed during her practice that women were struggling to find time for themselves and were increasingly feeling overly stressed and tired. She decided to take a course in esthetics and in 1989 opened The Medes Esthetik, Laser & Spa where women could go to for relaxation and wellness. The name itself, Medes, was meant to have a double meaning: the ‘Med’ from the soft medicine through various massage techniques providing a feeling of well-being and the ‘es’ from the traditional esthetic services such as facials, manicures, etc. Five years later, in 1994, Medes College was created and embarked on the journey of offering training in esthetics, makeup artistry, and nail technology. Then in 2010, both moved to cohabitate into a brand new 7800 sq ft facility where we are currently located. We feel privileged to have the knowledge and synergies that each one brings to Medes.
Under new ownership since 2015, the essence of Medes endures. We continue to espouse the notion that ‘True beauty is the essence between mind and body’, while modernizing our service offerings and facilities to today’s tastes. Times have changed greatly since 1989 and clients as well. Spas are no longer exclusive to women.

Medes fût la vision d’une infirmière en santé communautaire qui constatât dans l’exécution de ses fonctions que les femmes avaient de plus en plus de difficulté à trouver du temps pour elles-mêmes et conséquemment ressentaient un stress grandissant et du surmenage. Elle décida de suivre une formation en esthétique et en 1989 débuta Le Medes esthétik, laser et spa où les femmes pouvaient venir relaxer et s’offrir un sentiment de bien-être. Le nom-même, Medes, se voulait à double sens: le ‘Med’ pour la médicine douce provenant du bien-être résultant des différentes techniques de massage et le ‘es’ des soins traditionnels en esthétique tel que facials, manucures, etcetera. Cinq ans plus t**d, en 1994, Collège Medes fût créé et s’embarqua dans l’aventure d’offrir de la formation en esthétiques, en maquillage professionnel et en technique de pose d’ongles. Puis en 2010, les deux déménagèrent pour cohabiter dans un établissement flambant neuf de 7800 pi.car., celui-là même où nous nous trouvons présentement. Nous nous sentons privilégiés d’avoir sur place les connaissances et synergies que chaque entité apporte à Medes.
La compagnie appartient à des nouveaux propriétaires depuis 2015, mais ce qui définissait Medes perdure. Nous continuons d’épouser les valeurs que ‘prendre soins de soi, ce n’est pas seulement se gâter, c’est aussi se préserver’, tout en rajeunissant nos services et installations aux goûts du jour. Les temps ont bien changés depuis 1989 et la clientèle aussi. Le spa n’est plus une affaire de femme seulement.
Notre but chez Medes est d’offrir un lieu de tranquillité et de sérénité ou vous pouvez vous détendre et relaxer avec nos esthéticiennes d’expérience ou massothérapeutes pendant quelques minutes ou quelques heures.
