Codependency doesn't start because we want to heal someone else's wounds - it starts because there are parts of ourselves we're avoiding and being needed can distract us from those parts. But constantly rescuing others keeps us from turning inward. Real healing only happens when we face our own pain, fear, grief, and emptiness directly. There's no shortcut around that work.
