If you’ve spotted white or yellow patches on your child's tongue or on the inside of your child’s cheeks, they may have a fungal infection called thrush. Thrush is most common in young kids, but can affect adults, too. (In adults, symptoms can also include a cottony feeling in your mouth and loss of taste.)

Come ask our pharmacist today if you have any questions about thrush or treatment for it, we can prescribe something that will help.

Here are three things you can do to help prevent thrush:

1) Practice good oral hygiene by brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing at least once a day. If your baby uses a bottle or a pacifier, thoroughly clean them in hot water or the dishwasher after each use.

2) See your dentist regularly. This is especially important if you have certain health issues, like diabetes.

3) Limit the amount of sugar and yeast-containing foods you eat.

Depending on where you are travelling, you could be at risk for many vaccine preventable illnesses. For many places, the immunizations you might need could include protection for hepatitis A, travellers’ diarrhea, and more.

A runny nose, body aches, fever, and maybe even a sore throat, too. These are the classic symptoms of the flu.

You can protect yourself, and those around you, by washing your hands often, staying home when you are sick and getting a flu shot. The flu shot can reduce your chances of getting very ill and of spreading the virus to others if you do get the flu.

Flu vaccines are now available! For any questions call us at 604-245-0727

Did you know your pharmacist can even prescribe for acne now?

Body breakouts are mainly caused by overactive oil glands, excess dead skin cells, and bacteria. You can prevent pimples on your body by wearing loose clothing, showering after exercise, and using non-comedogenic body care products (which won’t clog pores).

Over-the-counter treatments can help with mild breakouts. Ask our pharmacist to walk you through the options, from body washes to creams and much more. Or we can get you prescription medication for it.

Come visit us at Douglas Compounding Pharmacy at #3 - 376 175a Street in Surrey or call us at 604-245-0727 to see how we can help!
