Your skin & the menstrual cycle ๐Ÿ’ซ

During the menstrual cycle, there will be hormonal changes that may be unwelcome!

๐ŸŒธ 1st Stage: Menstrual phase
Your skin responds to a decrease in hormones, progesterone & estrogen. This reduces the oil production & skin barrier function, leaving your skin sensitive & dry. It is good to incorporate hyaluronic acid & glycerin which moisturize your skin.

๐ŸŒธ 2nd Stage: Follicular phase
Your estrogen levels peak at ovulation, making your skin strong & plump, and the skin cell turnover is increased. During this time, use antioxidants like vitamin C or lactic acid to maintain your skin in great condition!

๐ŸŒธ 3rd Stage: Luteal phase
Your skin responds to a rise in hormones, progesterone & testosterone during this phase of your cycle. This leads to more oil production, so if you have slightly dry you may notice a glow. ๐Ÿฅฐ But if you have oily or acne-prone skin, you may notice an increase in facial oil & breakouts. ๐Ÿ˜ก During this phase use a salicylic acid to exfoliate, moisturizer and niacinamide as it is potent anti-inflammatory.
