What a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon—popcorn, iced tea, coffee, and wonderful entertainment by the Sound Academy. Thank you for coming in and filling our day with great music and joy!

Our December birthdays were celebrated with a delicious cake made by our wonderful kitchen staff, and we gathered everyone for a cheerful group picture to mark the occasion. As residents enjoyed their cake and ice cream, some funny knock-knock jokes were read that brought plenty of smiles,laughs and a few groans to the room.

We started our morning with our energizing Move to Improve exercise class, getting everyone smiling and stretched for the day. In the afternoon, we finished our salt dough tree ornaments and hung them on our little mini-tree centrepieces while festive music played in the background — a simple, joyful way to welcome the holiday season together.

A couple gentlemen enjoyed a friendly game of crib today, while at the other end of the table our little craft house was busy creating paper chains and beautiful snowflakes. It’s true—every snowflake is unique in its own special way, just like the moments we share together.

This afternoon a few of us got into the Christmas spirit by making festive paper chains together—such a simple activity, but full of laughter and good conversation. Our evening ended on a beautiful note with the Valley Voices Community Choir filling our community with their amazing harmonies. Their performance was absolutely wonderful, and we all loved every moment. After the concert, we all went back to our communities and enjoyed an amazing cup of hot chocolate made by one of our team members—a perfect, cozy way to end the night. Thank you to the choir for entertaining us and helping us start December with joy.

Friday is our regular bingo fun day, and it was wonderful to welcome some new faces to join in the excitement. A big thank-you to our dedicated bingo caller who is always there for us, and to our resident who helps gather the fun, exciting, and beautiful prizes—plus makes sure everyone has a little candy to enjoy while they play.

Our Java Music Club is a comforting and welcoming space where we gather two times a month to explore different themes through stories, singing, and meaningful songs. It brings feelings of togetherness, joy, and calm, and always ends with friendly conversation and snacks after the music. Java truly feels like a little family, sharing moments that lift the heart.

A big thank-you to Glen and Sylvia for coming in this afternoon to entertain us—the residents truly enjoyed the wonderful music and even got up for some dancing while they played. We also want to thank our coworker for the delicious donuts, which we enjoyed with coffee after the entertainment. To finish off the afternoon, some of the residents gathered for a friendly game of crib, making it a lovely and well-rounded day for everyone.

Christmas came early at our community with the arrival of our giant Connect Four game! The residents had a great time testing it out, laughing and trying to figure out the best strategies to win. Afterwards a warm cup of hot chocolate in hand and plenty of friendly visiting and conversation, it made for a wonderful afternoon. Everyone enjoyed it so much that we’re already thinking about organizing some fun tournaments in the near future.

The residents had a wonderful time settling in for their Christmas movie night, enjoying the classic Home Alone together. Sunday movie nights have become a favourite tradition—something everyone looks forward to—because each week brings not only a great film, but also a delicious, thoughtful treat that makes the evening feel extra special.

Our seniors have been getting into the Movember spirit this week!
There’s been plenty of laughter as everyone tried on silly moustaches, compared their “best ‘staches,” and enjoyed a light-hearted afternoon of photo ops and conversation. It was a fun way to raise awareness, share a few smiles, and celebrate Movember together!

The seniors enjoyed a wonderful afternoon making salt-dough Christmas decorations with the Grade 5/6 class from Roots of Resilience School. Some of the dough was delightfully scented with cinnamon, thanks to my coworker and a helpful volunteer who prepared the dough. It was a fun, creative time shared by all!
