If you ever break down on an Alberta road, here’s how to stay safe and follow roadside safety laws:
• Pull as far onto the shoulder as possible — don’t stop in a live lane
• Turn on your hazard lights right away
• Place TurboFlares behind your vehicle so drivers can see you sooner
• If traffic is heavy or visibility is low, stay inside and call for help
• Alberta’s roadside safety laws require other drivers to move over to the next lane when passing any stopped vehicle with flashing lights
• If a lane change isn’t safe, drivers must slow to 60 km/h (or the posted limit if it’s lower) and give lots of space
• These rules protect you, tow operators, and anyone stopped on the shoulder
A little caution goes a long way. Be Seen. Be Safe❤️
