✨🎄 What a perfect evening for a stroll through part of south Midland to admire the festive decorations. Our one-hour walk was filled with laughter, movement, and holiday cheer. We even sang🎶for one lucky fellow and his dog🐾!
We didn’t have time to visit or photograph📸every decorated house, but the lights we did see were magical and reminded us how special it is to come together during the season🎅🏼. Swipe through to enjoy some snapshots from the tour.💚
And, if you'd like to join us for our next Christmas Light Walking Tour, please call or text Drumheller Nordic Walking and Wellness at 403-823-0156.

✨🎄 Drumheller Nordic Walking’s First Christmas Light Walking Tour of 2025! 🎄✨
What a magical evening in Riverside! Our Nordic walkers gathered for a festive stroll through part of the neighborhood, starting with a warm-up and finishing with stretching and a joyful rendition of Jingle Bells. 🎶
A huge thank you to our special guest, Emma, for stepping in as our photographer for our group picture. 📸
We loved seeing the beautiful decorations on our neighbors’ houses and in their yards— each one adding to the holiday cheer. Here are a few snapshots from the tour to brighten your day! 🌟

Taken from Dr. Howard Luks MD - Orthopedic Surgeon

Frailty doesn’t arrive overnight.
It creeps. Quietly. Patiently. Unnoticed.

We normalize the small losses.
We tell ourselves it’s just a natural part of aging.
We accept things we shouldn’t.
At first, it’s subtle.

A little less speed when you cross the street.
More effort is required to get out of a chair.
A stumble on uneven ground that didn’t used to be there.
You recover, so you brush it off.

This isn’t normal aging. You shouldn’t just write it off.

Because slowly, these little moments add up.
And because they happen gradually, we adjust without realizing it:

You stop taking the stairs because they feel harder.
You park closer to the store.
You avoid the trail you used to hike because the roots make you nervous.
You choose the chair instead of the floor, because getting up feels clumsy now.

And then one day, you find your world has gotten smaller—not because you chose it, but because your body made the choice for you.
Frailty doesn’t crash into us.
It sneaks up while we’re not paying attention. Slowly… over many years.

Muscle doesn’t read a calendar.

It doesn’t know how many candles were on your last birthday cake. It doesn’t care if you’re 35, 55, or 75.

But it absolutely knows whether you’re using it… or neglecting it.

That distinction matters more than most people realize, because when it comes to preserving your strength, function, and independence as you age, the biggest threat isn’t aging itself.

It’s inactivity.

Time to get moving. Join us for one of our walking wellness classes. Call today. 403-823-0156. You don't have to go fast...you just have to go!

‼️Well, well, well.😲
You think you know a person and then BAM!⚡Out of the blue, you discover they know their way around a bowling alley.🎳
Thanks😘to everyone who took part in Poling and Bowling on Saturday.
We had a great 4k walk🚶🏽‍♀️from the Studio on 3rd at the Navy League building to Sandstone Lanes and back.🔃We even tried out the new intersection at Canadian Tire, which worked like a charm.
We did some 5-pin bowling and discovered🕵some hidden talent amongst our walkers. Who knew?🤷‍♀️

🏃‍♀️We started at the Nacmine Community Hall.
✨First, we were ten.🔟
😮Then, we were eight.8⃣
No, we didn't lose two. They were on a🕵🏻reconnaissance mission for the group.
Meanwhile, the rest of us took the opportunity to stop for a quick pic📸with one of our favourite dinosaurs🦕.
✋🏽✋🏽And, before long, we were back to ten.
🏆Mission accomplished.
