Tomorrow at the Duncan Market, Henk and I will be honouring my mother Vivian, who at age 91 and 92 regularly attended the Duncan Market. She loved being there and even on days when I didn't want to attend, she'd say, "I'll put my long johns on" and was game to go. She was always such a trooper. We love you Mom.
See you tomorrow everyone 10 -2...find us across from the stage beside the Market booth.

It's time to make more Bliss! My website will open in 2 weeks (Nov 1 ) and I will be at the Duncan Market Nov 8th (10-2pm), so time to get busy. Four batches of Castille soap are done as well as REPAIR ointment for dry cracks. Tomorrow I start making Wild Hip Face cream. Then it's on to Wild Hip Rose toner and Lavender body and linen spray. For those outside the Cowichan Valley, I will be shipping as usual with Canada Post, with huge thanks that the strike is only rotating now, not total and devastating. ๐Ÿ‘www.botanicalbliss.ca # buyCanadian

Here are the Dahlias that I was able to save last night before the frost. My fingers were frozen by the time I was done. Not much room for eating on the kitchen table! So glad to have them.

Tis the last day of life for my beautiful dahlia garden and a sad day for me. A frost last night took our all but the tallest, who were brought inside to survive tonight. Some of these bouquets are on their way to my 94 year old Mom who has delighted in them since July. I love sharing my favorite flower - they have brought joy to many. Thank you my friends and sleep well, we will see you again in the spring.๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

My favorite fall salad is fresh tomatoes (these ones still warm from the greenhouse!), fresh basil( also warm), boccocini and balsamic vinegar. No recipe, just toss em all together and enjoy. Easy and delicious. Today I start on tomato soups for the freezer....Gazpacho, Tomato with Blue Cheese and Tomato and Basil. ๐Ÿ… ๐Ÿ… ๐Ÿ… ๐Ÿ… ๐Ÿ… I always think in Sept...maybe we should plant less as we get soooo many, but we will share more this year so no need. Sharing the abundance; good for the soul.

I LOVE September, the month of Nature's Abundance. Everything is ready. Pick me, Pick me, comes the cry from the Garden! Tomatoes, beans, grapes, prunes, walnuts, elderberries, basil, garlic, calendula, apples, pears, peppers, cukes, cantaloupe, beets and MORE. The birds are feasting on the sunflowers and the bees are high on just about everything. The Dahlias are 7 feet tall and the Rose scents are narcotic. All our hard work pays off so magnificently, it brings tears to my eyes. The rewards of growing can never be quantified, but give so much meaning to life. Thank you plants, we love you so. local

Flower madness is on! The dahlias, gladiolus, coneflowers, roses, sunflowers and more are all hitting their stride after all this magnificent rain. The bees love sleeping in the blossoms so I don't do any picking before they wake up, have a good stretch and fly off to breakfast on the next blossom. I hope your garden is rocking it!

We love it when all our hard work in the garden starts paying off in bounty and beauty. Lavender is off now, half the garlic harvested, basil going nuts and pesto made and in the fridge. The sunflowers are almost at full height and stay tuned for the Dahlias....they are just getting goin! Hope your summer has been as good to you as it has been so far for us. If you dont grow your own food, the local markets are loaded with abundance! Enjoy! www.botanicalbliss.ca
