Cardboard!!! πŸ“¦ πŸ“¦

We are still stock piling plain cardboard during the winter!!
If you are near Dyers Bay and would like to donate your cardboard to please drop off at our market stand.
There is NO recycling ❌ ♻️ for cardboard on the peninsula, so this is a great way to keep it out of the local landfill!
181 Bartley Drive, or message us and we can pick up big loads with our truck πŸ›»
Bonus ⭐️ if tape and staples are removed. Glossy cardboard ok, but it will not end up anywhere we grow food, just aesthetic beds/cut flower gardens, roadside, etc.
Wet and weathered is great condition for us to handle;)

Welcome Winter Solstice! More of that melt! πŸ’¦ And duly noted, it is very wise to wait at least a year observing before planting trees 🌳 or placing a foundation. It's been winter storm weather here, with whipping winds freezing the top layer of any leftover snow and creating slick standing puddles of ice where the meltwater pooled 🧊.

Honestly relieved at the last couple days of melting snow, a good start to winter season 🀣🀣This video also exemplifies how useless the new roof is against blowing snow!

Although very little appears to be 'growing' in the greenhouse, the lettuce under lights is still alive and well! . . . Our goal was to grow greens through the winter, but keeping them alive longer to extend the harvest, is a close second, we're happy to have!

Here's the largest pot we brought out to the house to enjoy fresh lettuce with our dinner!

❄️ Winter Pond life πŸͺ·

Dark area in far right corner of pond is where the de-icer dangles into the water keeping a small space of open water to allow any gases to release.
Hope the fish are doing well !

Curious to see one patch of rocks, far side centre, that refuses to accumulate snow🧐

Very nice to have placed the Christmas tree so close to the living room and added peanut butter sunflower seed snacks for the birds 🐦 πŸ–€πŸ€πŸ’›πŸ€Ž

The Heart Fortress. . Though others would inform you that this is a serious armoured "fort used to fight war!" Momma Jess thinks it's a beautiful kitchen window work of art πŸ₯°

⛄️ Quinzee 🌨️
is very gently south sloping in the east and north sloping in the west, but as far as sledding children are concerned there are no hills, so one of the eldest has created a quinzee!! This mountain of snow houses a huge cave and slide entrance!! Stay tuned for tour video πŸ€—

Also this photo is a memento of the one time Amaya Rose has kept her snowgear on long enough to enjoy winter for more than 20 minutes!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
