Here’s a look at what we’ve been working on to prepare ourselves for when we’ll open up for routine eye care again (as soon as we are allowed to do so by Ministry of Health)

-We’ll only be allowing one patient in the clinic at a time (only one parent can accompany a minor)

-When you arrive for your eye exam, we ask that you call us from your car and stay outdoors until we call you to let you know we’re ready for you

-You’ll be required to wear a face mask and disinfect your hands when you enter the practice and leave the exam room

-Our staff and optometrists will wear face shields, fave masks & gloves

-Like the pic above our slit lamps and phoropters will have large shields to prevent the spread of respiratory droplets

-After trying on frames, we’ll place them in a basket to be disinfected before the next patient arrives

-We’ll space out appointments to allow us enough time to sterilize fixtures & equipment between patients

We take this very seriously and you can rest assured we are adapting to this new reality to ensure our patients receive the best care in comfort and safety.

Mask fogging up your glasses? Here’s a few tips courtesy of
1) Mold your mask to the bridge of your nose
2) Tighten the mask so air isn’t going out of the top
3) Tape your mask to create a seal at the top (this is what’s worked for us so far 👍🏻)
4) Pull your mask up so the upper portion rests under your glasses
5) Wash your glasses with soapy water

Friends!! Like most of you, we’ve been managing working from home with kids 🤪🍸🍷. Some device usage is inevitable with online learning but here’s some tips to not let screen time get out of hand.
1) Set aside time to unplug. Whether it’s setting them ‘free’ in the backyard or pulling out a dusty board game
2) Talk to your kids about the dangers of too much screen time. Spending just two hours a day in a natural outdoor environment has been showing to slow down the progression of nearsightedness 👀
3) Download f.lux software at justgetflux.com. This helps regulate the blue light emitted by their device thus helping regulate their sleep cycle
We’re all in this together, and once we’re past this we’ll be here to check their eyes to ensure their health & their prescription hasn’t changed.
