Sleeping when you have Fibromyalgia can be a lot like sleeping with a newborn. It sounds easier than it is! Lying there, tossing and turning, doing mental math of "How much sleep will I get if I fall asleep right now", knowing you're not going to wake feeling refreshed, can make bedtime a dreaded activity.

Exercise is So important for our health as Spoonies. We need to preserve and protect our mobility and flexibility as much as possible. But we have unique and special needs. The average workout routines just won't work for us.

It's so important to respect where you are Now in your exercise/fitness journey without comparing yourself to anyone else. Keeping up with the Joneses, as it were, is a great way to start a flare and put you out of commission.

Baby steps. Just because the hike you want to do is 'Not Now', doesn't mean it's 'Not Ever'. Start small. A walk around the block is a great place to start.

Talk to your doctor to make sure you're safe to begin your chosen activity, and then gently begin.

As a society, we're always told to "Go! Hustle! Grind!" We've always got to be "on", always producing. Our worth as a person is tied to our productivity.

But for a Spoonie, that can be problematic. We don't have the same energy stores or pain reserves as "Normies" do. A day of hustling can lead to a week on the couch.

So, if no one has given you permission to give your body what it needs, then let me. If you need to rest, to veg, to just be, then do it. Your health depends on it, and you deserve it!

Come cook with me! Let's make Coconut Chia Energy Balls from my newest cookbook, Healthy Gut Happy You!

You'll notice that in my pictures, I substituted the chia and h**p seeds for sesame seeds. This is due to allergies. Still tastes delicious either way!

You'll need:
1 cup shredded coconut
2 tbsp each chia, h**p and ground flax seeds
1/2 cup almond butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup mini dark chocolate chips
2 tbsp honey or pure maple syrup (not pancake syrup)
Pinch of sea salt.

As Spoonies, we’re often told to “celebrate the big wins,” but what about the quiet victories?

Getting out of bed.
Drinking a warm cup of tea.
Feeling the sun on your face.
Laughing at a silly meme.
Having the energy to dance — even if it’s just in your chair.

These small happies matter just as much (if not more) than the big celebrations. When your energy is limited, mindset becomes everything. Choosing to find joy in the everyday, in the ordinary, in the stillness — that’s a radical act of self-love.

You don’t need a big moment to feel proud of yourself. You don’t need to “achieve” something to be worthy of celebration. You are already enough.
