Did you know that Director Laurie Winder packed up her office and "went on stress leave aka vacation" with the residents and staffs money knowing very well she wasn't coming back? Did you know that a resident committed su***de by jumping out the window and I heard that there were a few others that suddenly died after telling others that they would kill themselves if they lost their home? Guess what they did. All Because The Board of Directors allowed this to happen all to CASH IN$$$$ so that it could be renovated and flipped into a higher end seniors home? The Board of Directors neglected to do their duties and to profit at the expense of peoples lives. Hmm why is this? Words from the Garneau Church yet same writing style as those that run the Ashbourne. More Lies they did not do everything they could and even the church dismissed when I brought forward the serious concerns. Is the church been bullied or are they in on the potential fraud or money laundering?

To the friends of Garneau United Church,

It is with deep sadness that we received information from the Ashbourne Board that the Ashbourne is in the process of being sold and closing effective Nov. 30, 2023.

This decision did not come easily and brings with it a host of questions and emotions. We are very grateful for the work done by Garneau members who serve and have served on the Ashbourne Board. There has been a great deal of work done by the Board in the past 25 years.

The closure of Ashbourne Assisted Living is a result of financial and economic instability that has impacted on the organization's operational viability.
Despite their best efforts, the challenges that were faced led to the difficult decision to sell the building. This decision was not made lightly and is a response to the current economic landscape, which has made it increasingly challenging to sustain the high level of care and support that the residents deserve.
Ashbourne understands the impact of this decision and is committed to ensuring as smooth a Community Relocation for those affected as much as possible.

Our first care is for the residents. Members of the Coordinating Council will be in contact with the residents of Ashbourne connected to Garneau. And we will be looking at other ways to offer pastoral support.

There is a Transition Team through Ashbourne.

We have received confirmation that Garneau United Church will still have access and the same conditions of tenancy for up to two years. However, there will be many more questions to address in the coming months.

Good Morning Folks so Rachel Notley is making an appearance at the Ashbourne today at 10:30 am. What is the purpose of this visit ? Is she there for the people ??? or is she apart of this questionable criminal scheme ??? or is it PR to show that she "cares"? yet didn't fight to keep this seniors facility, which is a staple to the community? where is Danielle Smith in all of this?
Why is no one asking the real questions? why do the bigger news channels like CTV, Global News giving misleading information on what is really going on? why are they not investigating the suspicious behaviours and not looking into reports of fraud, elder abuse and so forth? Has the Board of Directors paid off or threatened to not speak out all the facts?? I have been trying for 3 years to address the criminal activity and abuse towards these vulnerable seniors yet The Board of Director have their hands in big money.

FACT THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS DID NOT DO EVERYTHING THEY COULD TO SAVE THIS MONUMENTAL CARE FACILITY NOPE THEY RAN IT PURPOSELY INTO THE GROUND. I HAVE PROOF. THEY DID THERE BEST TO BE NON EXISTENT AND THEY BULLIED AND IGNORED PEOPLE INTO SILENCE..

1.Is it true? They state they went Bankrupt yet where is the proof? They state they are non profit yet they were charging services for profit, selling toilet paper for profit, and so forth.

2. Does this deal benefit any of the Board members? cause according to other news it was sold to a developer that is giving the church 2 years to hold services then they are tearing down to rebuild for a profit market. My concern is that they scammed and used tactics to push the church for the land property and then intentionally ran it into the ground.So they could build for more profit. Why is none of this being looked into?

3.Why is it that Executive Laurie Winder and the Board of Directors was allowed to violate family council rights under the family council act ? I brought up serious concerns since 2019 as a Family Council and despite phone calls to report the misconduct and violations nothing was done. So what is the point of the Family Council act if it is not enforced?
" I have word that there is a Board member who works for AHS so is this how they got all away with funnelling money, violating rights under the act and all the loopholes to avoid prosecution and accountability?

4.We would like to understand why AHS was giving payments of Ashbourne residents to the Shepards Care Foundation and then they gave it to the Ashbourne.

5.Is it true and do you have the proof of the written letter or emails from the Board of Directors asking for help to keep the facility running? Because I quote that Doug Brese stated in the resident meeting that the government turned them down. Where is the proof?

6. Rachel Notley Given the fact that you stated in your campaign that you stand for seniors living and supports. Why did you not put in more efforts to save this monumental staple that has been apart of the community for so many years?
This is detrimental to the seniors living community.

7. Why is it that after so many complaints, inconsistencies, money and covid funds reported being used inappropriately, complaints of Elder abuse on many level, a Board Directors that refused to be active, transparent and full of gaslighting Not investigated?

8. Why is it that the Board is paying people to "help not help the residents" and there Executive Director Laurie Winder is no where to be seen? For a place gone bankrupt yet paid off debt and paying others does not add up. Where is the proof???
WE WANT THE PROOF !!!

9. Where is the Garneau United Church in all of this? why would they go against everything they stand for to give up their dream of helping the community. Were they bullied? where is the sale papers or agreement between the Church and this group when they agreed to hand it over? is there any stipulations that state they are to donate the facility if they could not afford to keep?

THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS ARE LYING AND HAVE THEIR HANDS IN SOME POCKETS BUT WHOS??

First of all this is not just an apartment this is an assisted living facility that provides essential care to vulnerable seniors in the U of A area. The Board of Directors have ignored issues for years and allowed the Executive Director Laurie Winder to neglect, financially abuse, discriminate, spend money foolishly, bully and threatened residents and staff. I believe after considerable investigation that this Board of Directors is apart of some criminal activity. From getting money from AHS sent to Shephards Care and then funnelled to the Ashbourne yet the Ashbourne doesn't run under Shepards Care. I assume the board of director trustee that works in upper has found that loop hole like why wouldn't it go directly to the Ashbourne. Since Executive Director Laurie Winder took over it is evident that the place was going in a bad direction for multitude of reasons and despite residents bringing up the issues the board of directors dismissed and then they were threatened that they would get evicted if they pushed too much.I have evidence of multiple emails to the Board of Directors about the serious issues at hand including money she was spending for example oculus full systems the complete package for seniors to use um not so she could take home to her family. And now that they side lined the staff and residents by only informing them of the sale "due to the government turning them down for help to keep the facility open" Doug Brese words No no no It wouldn't surprise me if they sold it off to one of their developer friends to bank big $$$ since robbing seniors in a not for profit just didnt profit enough especially when the executive Director is going on holiday after holiday and now on leave when she should have been there saving the place not taking a raise to sink and displace a bunch of vulnerable seniors. Where is she? is she running? There is so much that you are misinformed about in this situation and needs to be investigated as there is millions at play here. Laurie winder took covid 19 funds which was significant and spent it on fake grass!!! and games and and while providing not the best of care like disgusting I tell you. I am sure I can get many residents and staff that are willing to come forward to share. PLEASE LOOK DEEPER

I recently learned that Ashbourne - GUALP in my view sidelined staff and residents that they sold the facility and everyone has to move by Nov 30 2023. Due to Bankruptcy. Oh you mean because of funds and covid 19 funds being misused by the Executive Director Laurie Winder FRAUD????? or the fact that the Board of Directors did as much as possible to be invisible and to ignore the issues that have been going on for years? from the discrimination, to endangering residents that resulted in deaths and more...... straight up negligent , elder abuse occurring financially, mentally and emotionally. Yet some how Laurie despite place needing attention decided it was more important to take vacation after vacation and then the time comes to tell the residents that she failed and no where to be seen, is she a con?, she took advantage of new residents just to get their money to kick them out months later. How disgusting..... Where is Laurie Winder????? she is the Executive Director and yet she is on leave /vacation again when she should be dealing and taking accountability for her lack of professional position and the Board of Directors allowed all of this to happen despite several attempts to address the issues at hand. They ignored, discriminated ,bullied and threatened me out through Laurie Winder. I found evidence that they were for profit despite being a Non profit organization hmm. The Board of Directors are legally responsible and need to be held accountable for their lack of involvement. Which I believe is due to their Criminal intents. They have Frauded one of our most vulnerable people in the community and that cannot go with out some sort of punishment. We need to bring justice to all of these seniors and families that Laurie Winder and Board of Directors abuse and now pushing them out. The problem is housing and affordability are very limited and by taking away this facility it is detrimental to the community and seniors now and to come. They have sold the property most likely to a development company that they have connections with. This is not ok. The deed from when the church handed it over needs to be checked as the church may have stipulated conditions to preserve this property rather then sold off to mongules.

Completely appalled by how the Ashbourne upper management directs their employees to neglect the needs of the residents unless of course you pay pay pay$$$ and please remember this is a not-for-profit facility. My mom apartment for rent and services is over 4000 a month plus The Ashbourne also gets funding from Alberta Health Services to provide care for my mom and to assist her with her needs. now also note that my mom spent quite a bit of time in the hospital and while she’s in the hospital she is still paying for services that are not rendered because she is in hospital so in actuality they are making profit in those times that she’s in the hospital. Yet The other day my mom had asked for assistance to let her hair in the sink that is all just wet her hair in the sink so that she could do her hair the staff said “I’m sorry I don’t think I can do that I need to go and ask yolande who overseas the nursing staff. An hour later an hour later she comes back and states “that she is not allowed and that if she wants to get her hair done she can go down to the hairdressers and pay to get it done “ She doesn’t want her hair done she just wanted her hair down pinned in the sink literally takes not even three minutes and they could not provide that service for my mom because of upper management being petty. Leaving my mom in tears please note that Laurie Winder has completely bullied me out of my mothers care and my ability to advocate for her and has advised all staff but they are not allowed to have any sort of communication with me therefore I have to watch and sit back while they neglect and abuse my mom and nobody seems to care what Laurie Winder is doing to the facility allowing the abuse the neglect the lies the discrimination and so forth and the fact that Alberta Health Services is allowing this to happen… Why is it maybe because Laurie Winder has a Board of Directors that is involved in higher management of Alberta health services??? So is Alberta services allowing the Ashbourne facility to financially abuse ,neglect and discriminate against residents and family members. Yes yes they are as I made reports and Alberta Health And they did not properly investigate Why is it because there is a board of directors that is involved with AHS is that how they are getting around these loopholes??? They allowed discrimination they allow financial abuse they allow the mental abuse they allow the neglect of these residents. Yet this very entity is suppose to protect our seniors. Disgusting, dispicable!!

LIED, GASLIGHTED AND ACT LIKE THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG. How sick is our world today TO ALLOW PEOPLE LIKE THIS TO CARE FOR ANYONE!!!!

STILL Not a single attempt from the Board of Directors does nobody find this very odd or the fact that it cost more money to live at a nonprofit that it is to live at a for-profit retirement living did you know that she upsell things in the tuck shop or upsells the booze for happy hour and upsells the food and services the list goes on LAURIE WINDER IS FOR PROFIT WORKING A NOT FOR PROFIT SO WHERE IS THAT EXTRA MONEY GOING…..???? Fake grass, new furniture, and other things that were absolute not needed.
It has now been 9 months now and I have not had a single attempt to resolve the issues that I have previously brought forth and I find this highly concerning. I am calling out all of the Directors to put a stop to Executive Director Laurie Winders lies, bullying, misconduct and inability to listen and even make attempts to resolve conflict, complaints or concerns.

Ps BOARD OF DIRECTORS YOU ARE LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR LAURIE WINDERS ACTIONS AND THE FACT THAT I HAVE TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES TO SPEAK WITH YOU ALL TO RESOLVE BUT NO EFFORT AND KNOW THAT YOU ALL KNOW THEREFORE YOU ARE ALL FULLY ACCOUNTABLE FOR ALL THE ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES YOU ALLOW YOUR-EMPLOYEE TO CONDUCT.
