Parents want to help when their child is experiencing anxiety - we feel for our children when anxiety gets in their way. It is important to combine this empathy with the sentiment of confidence - that we believe in them, that we believe in their ability to flourish. Parents can learn many strategies to significantly impact their child’s anxiety in the moment - including tools from SPACE, or Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions. Tandem Psychology is partnering with Dr. Heather Dyck to offer a parent group for severe selective eating or ARFID. Strategies are based on parent management training and CBT.
