I have been thinking about the buffalo chickun pizza from Seitansyeg ever since a slice flew into my mouth at the VVOA Christmas market.
I already knew my order going in.
It’s funny. We..My boyfriend (husband now) used to live downtown for YEARS ~pre kids ~Just up on 116th in the old Picasso building. We’ve walked Jasper Ave a million times, and for the life of me cannot remember what was there before seitan’s existed.
I use to work at bistro 112.. when it was an Internet cafe!!!!
Dating myself here 🤟🏼
As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the familiarity of an old friend. Of course I wanted to stay (when prompted to stay or go) but it’s getting dark and bedtime these days is 8pm.
I cannot stop thinking about your sparkly eyeshadow and how sweet you were to us. Your kindness didn’t go unnoticed 💕
Jimmy ordered the meat lovers pizza, a slice of haskap cashew cheesecake, and I had the buffalo chickun pizza with a piece of carrot cake (more of a loaf than cake) but perfect none the less
We also realized we needed “driving food” so we opted in for a fried chickun box meal with fries and gochujang aioli for dipping.
Fu***ng yum.
And I say that with my WHOLE chest.
Listen folks… I have had one hell of a year. And when I tell you, I don’t get out much… I mean it.
But I’m a work in progress 💕
The ‘Zas were 2 for $40, with the fried chicken, dessert and tip came to less than $100 and fed us well throughout the next evening.
We were strongly advised to have dessert whilst we wait for the rest of our order, or as our server explained “go and eat your feelings” …and eat our feelings we did.
Cue eyes rolling back into head.
Jimmy demolished his cashew cheesecake, while I took strategic horizontal fork slices with the perfect cake/icing ratio precision.
I nibbled on that carrot cake for 3days btw. Moist and creamy and perfect for a quick “I’ll just have a small bite” while the refrigerator door stays open and the fork remains in the container for future bites.
You know how it is. (Takes a swig of soy milk)
The fries. Perfectly crisp, (did not make the trip home) the fried seitan CAR chickun was (believe it or not) nostalgic in the way I felt in my early 20’s eating car chickun with my boyfriend. Woo hoo for date night!
Now we just have to bring FAT FRANKS back to Jasper Ave at 2am and we’re golden.
I won’t speak on the meat lovers pizza, since SOMEONE apparently was a hungry hipppo, (smelt great though) but let’s talk about the cashew Gorgonzola that was on MY pizza.
Ok. Is there a bottle I can buy to just “sure shot it” into my mouth hole? OR… hear me out, Gorgonzola wrestling… who said that?
Creamy, buttery, salty, tangy, rich, with earthy notes that pairs perfectly with the spice and crunch of the arugula topping is simply out of this world.
I mean. Look at me. Days have past… and I cannot stop thinking about the freshness and chewiness of the dough even.
I just can’t.
I am so grateful to be vegan 💚
From the moment we walked in, we felt like old friends. Warm, inviting conversation with quirky banter.
If that’s the vibe, then you’ve succeeded my friends.
Thank you for having us… and can’t wait to go back!
10/10.
