Happy Halloween to our residents, families, and employee care partners! Our Connecting Care Communities have been getting into the Halloween spirit all week with creative costumes, festive decorations, and plenty of fun. Many of our communities are welcoming trick-or-treaters tonight, and we can’t wait to see and share more of the celebrations in the days ahead. At Points West Living Cold Lake, residents recently enjoyed a special visit from a group of mini ponies and shelties. It was a unique day as these gentle animals met for the first time, sharing a memorable moment that captured everyone’s attention. These visits offer more than just fresh air and friendly faces—they help create meaningful connections that support well-being. Bringing animals into the community is one way we live out the Eden Principle of reducing loneliness and boredom for those we serve.

Gardening is more than just planting seeds. It’s fresh air, gentle movement, and the satisfaction of watching something grow. For older adults, time in the garden can reduce stress, boost mood, and even improve strength and flexibility. As these residents from Brook Designated Supportive Living demonstrate, whether it’s tending vegetables, watering flowers, or simply enjoying the colors and scents, gardening offers a sense of purpose and connection to nature that never gets old.

Did you know that friendships in later life can be just as exciting and fulfilling as those made in our younger years? Studies show that social connections boost mood, strengthen the immune system, and even improve memory.

At Pearson Place, one beautiful example came to life recently. Residents Trudy and Alf are often together, enjoying each other’s company and looking out for one another. When Alf noticed Trudy was feeling down, he picked a few flowers from the community garden to give her. Her smile said it all. A simple, thoughtful gesture showed the depth of their friendship and the difference kindness can make in someone’s day.

Whether it’s chocolate, vanilla, or something in between, it’s the simple joys that often mean the most. Moments like these remind us that happiness doesn’t have to be complicated; it can be as sweet and simple as a cone shared with friends.

Life in our communities is about more than care. It’s about creating opportunities for joy, movement, and connection. Points West Living Stettler recently came together with determination and heart to make something truly special happen. They successfully raised the funds to purchase a duet bike.

With a comfortable passenger seat in front and a rider pedaling from behind, this bike gives residents the chance to feel the breeze, explore the neighborhood, and enjoy the simple freedom of a bike ride.

This project is a powerful example of what can happen when people believe in meaningful living and work together to make it real. Congratulations to everyone at Stettler for turning a great idea into a beautiful reality.

At Points West Living Prince Albert, their recent Multicultural Day was more than a celebration, it was a vibrant reflection of what makes our communities thrive. Residents and employee care partners came together to share food, stories, and traditions from around the world, including Nepal, India, Canada, the Philippines, Palestine, and Nigeria. The result? A powerful reminder that learning, joy, and connection have no age limit.
