It’s like there’s 2 radio stations on at the same time. The one you put on to listen to and the one that you can faintly hear in the background. New Year’s Eve is kind of like that. The sweets are calling you and your yoga mat is giving you the side eye from the next room. There is this knowing pulling you to move forward and yet the old is still holding you for some reason. The end of this year energetically is a big ending year. Today, a nine year vibration cycle ends. The new is calling you from the next room and will get louder as the days go on from here. It really is time to let the old go. The stuff that isn’t meant to join you going forward begins to become very heavy if you keep carrying it. Put it down. Tomorrow is the beginning of something new. And it’s much lighter. ❤️

It’s ironic but when your nervous system has been in fight or flight for so long it’s actually very scary to relax. Peace is something you want but you’re apprehensive to allow it. You crave quiet but constantly surround yourself with activity and noise. The thought of sitting silently with yourself is very uncomfortable. The nervous system was never meant to be switched to “on” all the time, and when you first begin to allow it to turn off, it’s going to be uncomfortable. What happens on the other side of that discomfort? Rest digest repair. The body resets. Healing begins.

We often get hit with an illness, loss, or betrayal before we start asking ourselves the big questions. Why am I here? What’s my purpose? Whats it all for? I’m reminded of the story of the snail. As he grows his shell protects him. He is comfortable and happy. But as time goes on his squishy little body gets pressed up against the very thing that keeps him safe. He is faced with the fear of dropping his shell and being vulnerable to the birds above. Or staying and being crushed by his own protection. This is the point of growth that is very uncomfortable. Terrifying. Going forward is scary but so is staying where you are. Drop the shell. It’s what we were designed to do. Trust in the unknown. That’s where your growth is. 🐌

Sometimes when I sit in energy work I assume I’m going inward and will get hit with more to work through. To my humbling surprise I come out with a renewed sense of peace and contentment in just being. Amazing things happen when we just surrender. I am reminded today that I really like the feeling of peace. It feels pretty good. 🕊️

Healing is hot right now. Shadow work, trauma therapy, diving right into your darkness and fears. I see more and more people that come for sessions and classes that are willing to go there. Willing to have these transformational experiences. The one thing and probably the most important one is the return to simple joys and stillness. A reminder of why you’re crawling through the trenches. And those moments seam insignificant but that’s when the integration happens. That’s when true healing happens. When you start to see a pattern of the return to stillness and peace. So don’t forget to watch a bee buzz around on a flower because that’s why you’re doing this hard work. To be present in this time you have here.

I read an article about how meditation can bring up unwanted side effects such as anxiety, panic, and past stored trauma. It occurred to me that perhaps the goal of meditation isn’t peace. At least not at first. Perhaps meditation is about truth. Sometimes the truth isn’t peaceful. Sometimes the truth is very painful. But peace without truth is temporary. Lasting peace requires truth. Even if it’s uncomfortable. So if you have fear come up about meditating, know that it’s just buried truths within. And once you acknowledge them peace arises.

Observations from the table:
How does spirituality help with trauma or mental illness? The connection to something bigger than ourselves allows us to release our suffering to a greater intelligence. This creates ease in the nervous system. When the nervous system is at ease clear thinking returns.

Observations from the table:
Trauma= something that we can’t reason. Can’t make sense of. We’ve been trying to use the mind to reason our way through trauma. How can you use a tool to reason something unreasonable? Healing happens at a much higher level. Spiritual healing is taking account of all parts of ourselves and rather than reasoning our way through with the mind, we are held by something much greater. People will often say, I don’t know what happened but something just switched. I don’t understand it but this trauma doesn’t have a hold of me anymore. Because when you have something unfathomable happen, you need something unfathomable to battle it.
