Tomorrow is Remembrance Day — a day for us to pause, reflect, and honour the bravery and sacrifices of those who served and continue to serve. 🌺
Even our youngest learners can take part in gentle, meaningful ways — through stories, art, and quiet moments of thankfulness.

Here are some family-friendly ways to mark the day in Edmonton:

🌺 Take in one of the Remembrance Day ceremonies around the city
🕊 Visit the Alberta Legislature Grounds to see the memorials and place a poppy
📚 Read Together: A Poppy Is To Remember, The Peace Book, or Lest We Forget (simple language and visuals)
🎨 Create Paper Poppies and talk about kindness, peace, and caring for others
🚶‍♀️ Take a Peace Walk — even a short walk, noticing quiet and stillness together

This is a day for slowing down. For noticing. For remembering. For holding gratitude close. ❤️

Please note: There are no playschool classes tomorrow in observance of Remembrance Day. We will see our little learners back on Wednesday.

This week at playschool we have been reading Chicka Chicka Boom Boom! 🌴🥥

Today, our class leader helped us with our calendar routine, practicing days of the week and leading the group with confidence 🌞💛

Inspired by Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, we made our own coconut tree and worked together to see how many letters we could stack. We made it to 10 letters! Our little learners experimented with stacking different types of letters, but decided they were too heavy 😉

So much learning happens through play — leadership, problem solving, and fine motor skills 🌈✨

Costumes, giggles, obstacle courses, music, and so much imagination.
We love celebrating childhood in all its creativity — where every day is about exploring, trying new things, and learning through play.

📚✨ What We Read at Play School This Week! ✨🎃

This week was full of spooky fun and cozy storytelling! We explored books that helped us practice counting, rhyming, bravery, imagination, and playful participation. Here’s what we read together:

🎸 Pete the Cat: Five Little Pumpkins
We sang along and counted pumpkins as Pete helped us celebrate the cool side of Halloween. Lots of rhythm, movement, and giggles!

🧙‍♀️ There’s a Witch in Your Book
This one had us interacting and talking to the characters! We blew, shook, and giggled our way through a silly, friendly Halloween adventure.

👵 The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything
We followed the brave little old lady as she marched confidently through spooky sights — learning that sometimes things just seem scary but aren’t at all. We also practiced call-and-response storytelling!

👻 Ten Timid Ghosts
A counting story full of gentle spooks and playful characters! We practiced counting backwards as the ghosts made room in their haunted house

We have been off to a busy start. Cooking day was a success with everyone trying new things.
The Dinosaurs visited. They hid shoes and left surprises for us each day. Color mixing was fun and utilized a variety of senses to create fizzing dinosaurs. Halloween will soon be here!
