Bowen Therapy is a very gentle, hands-on technique that helps your body relax and reset itself. Instead of deep pressure, it uses light rolling movements on specific areas of the body to signal your nervous system to slow down and let go of tension.
Think of it like pressing a “reset button” for your body — helping it release pain, reduce stress, and move more freely, all in a calm and natural way.
But is it considered a massage? Well- not exactly.
Bowen Therapy is different from traditional massage. While it does involve hands-on touch, it doesn’t use oils, deep pressure, or continuous strokes like massage does. Instead, Bowen uses gentle, precise movements with pauses in between to allow the body time to respond and reset.
Many people choose Bowen when they want something very gentle, are sensitive to pressure, or haven’t found relief with massage alone. It’s best thought of as a nervous-system–based therapy, rather than a muscle-focused massage.
