Fire-cupping is a therapy which uses glass jars suctioned onto the skin's surface. The negative pressure (vacuum) is created by lighting an alcohol swab on fire, moving it in and out of the cup before placing the cup on the skin. The suction creates a perpendicular stretch on the tissues, separating the layers and drawing in blood to the area.

The primary goal of cupping is to activate the body's immune system to promote healing, reduce pain (acute & chronic) and inflammation. It stimulates the lymphatic system, increases circulation and loosens adhesions. The effect of cupping on muscle and connective tissue is similar to a deep-tissue massage.
