Applications are now OPEN for our two 2026 Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Camps: AAC Camp Alberta and Camp Connect!

Space is limited, so to be fair we will review all applications received by the May 1 deadline, and notify applicants of acceptance by May 7.

🥁🥁 Drumroll please...

We are so excited to announce this NEW opportunity for older campers!

Camp Connect is a brand new camp experience for young adults who use AAC to expand and maintain their social connections while enjoying adapted outdoor activities.

Save the date! Camp Connect will take place October 2-4, 2026 at William Watson Lodge in beautiful Kananaskis Country.

📢 Mark your calendars! 🗓️

AAC Camp Alberta 2026 will be held September 5-7 at the Gull Lake Centre in Central Alberta!

AAC Camp Alberta is a 3-day overnight camp for children ages 6-19 with complex communication needs who use robust AAC systems. Each camper is paired with an OT, PT, or SLP student counselor for a weekend of fun, active, and accessible camp activities. Camp includes opportunities for parents and siblings too!

Registration will open in April, but consider this your official "Save the Date". Please help us spread the word!

Thanks for having us Easter Seals Alberta! We had a blast being back at Camp Horizon! 🏞️

The AAC Camp Alberta rolled out the red carpet for their 10th annual summer camp! 🏕️🌟 This year’s theme was a 10th Anniversary Red Carpet Gala, and campers truly shined like stars. 🎬✨

Throughout the weekend, they dove into arts & crafts, soared through the high ropes and zipline, tested their aim in archery, and took part in tons of other exciting camp activities!

It was a weekend full of adventure, laughter, connection, and celebration💫👏

The Organization of Alberta Students in Speech (OASIS) is hosting a comedy night fundraiser for AAC Camp Alberta and Aphasia Camp on July 13th. All proceeds will be split between the two camps.

AAC Camp 2024 Highlights Part 4/6: Movement, Exploration, & Interaction 🏃‍♀️👩‍🦽🧠

“Through movement, children develop good thinking and communication skills as they explore and interact with their world. Movement also builds self-confidence. Children feel competent, physically and emotionally, when they use their bodies to communicate and solve problems” (“On the Move”, zerotothree.org). Movement and sensory activities are good for the body, mind, heart and soul! Some camper favourites from last summer include water play, digging for treasure in sensory bins, pool noodle sword fights, playing at the ACT Centre’s accessible playground, and exploring the great outdoors!
