📢 Welcome to the team, Patrisha! 📢

We are thrilled to introduce Patrisha, our new High-Risk Foot Care Nurse at Edmonton Diabetes & High-Risk Foot Clinic.

Patrisha has been a Licensed Practical Nurse for eight years, graduating in 2017. Most of her career has been in community health settings, where she developed extensive experience in both pediatric and geriatric home care, as well as facility-based care. In 2019, she completed both the Basic and Advanced Foot Care courses, which strengthened her understanding of the critical role foot health plays in overall well-being. This training was inspired by the needs she observed among her residents, where proper foot care often made a significant difference in their quality of life.

Outside of nursing, Patrisha enjoys spending time outdoors—whether hiking or relaxing by the lake with her three dogs. She also pursues her passion for aesthetics, specializing in brow and lip tattoo treatments.

Have you ever sat in an Emergency Waiting Room for hours and despised the long wait time? Do you or a loved one or your patients suffer from diabetes or its tragic complications such as a lower limb amputation?

Hi, I’m Kathleen Cesarin. Wife, mother, nurse, CEO of Accelerated Cast Clinic & Limb Preservation Centre Ltd. In my 12 years of specialized nursing in Emergency Rooms, Orthopedic Clinics and in Wound Care, I was constantly frustrated and saddened watching non-urgent patients sit for hours in an ER because they had no where else to go. I’ve been personally inspired by many patients and my diabetic family members who have experienced the devastation of an amputation and tragically, even death.

My passion is to be part of the solution.

Here are some scary, but important facts for you to consider:

-It’s estimated that over half of ER visits are by patients who are trying to access services after business hours, unaware of where else to go or sent there by their doctor as no other option exists.

-In 2014, 391 lower-limb amputations were performed in Alberta on patients with a diabetic foot ulcer.

-It’s estimated that up to 85% of amputations are PREVENTABLE and that 50% or more of those who have an amputation will die within 5 years.

This is UNACCEPTABLE. These wounds are notoriously hard to heal and cost millions of health care dollars annually. It HAS to stop!

The public now has a highly accessible, specialized clinic to treat non-emergent orthopedic and wound care patients in a timely way, eliminating hundreds of ER visits, saving hundreds of thousands of health care dollars and freeing up ER beds for patients who urgently need it.

And, even better, since day one of business we have designated 10% of yearly profits to support worthy community charities. So, by helping US you are helping your favorite charities too!
