We’re currently looking for volunteers and practicum students to join AdaptAbilities! We’re recruiting for our programs across multiple locations, as well as for the Hypothermic Half Marathon. Whether you’re seeking hands-on experience or a meaningful way to give back, we offer flexible hours to fit your schedule.

Volunteers are an integral part of the AdaptAbilities family. Your time and dedication help create safe, caring, and inclusive environments where participants and their families can grow, succeed, and belong. Along the way, you’ll work alongside supportive colleagues, gain valuable learning opportunities, and build lasting relationships.

Even if there isn’t an opportunity available when you apply, we’ll keep your information on file for future roles.

Bentley is full of energy and joy! Whether
he’s swimming, bowling, or kicking around
a soccer ball, he lights up when he’s moving.
What really makes Bentley shine is the way
he connects with people. He loves being
social, and the more people around him, the
more joy he gives. His laughter is contagious,
and he has a gift for making others happy!

For Bentley and his family, opportunities for
accessible programming were limited. His
parents did their best to keep him active in the
community, but there wasn’t a place where
support was being provided. Bentley wanted
more than just being present—he wanted to
participate, to build friendships, and to spend
time with kids his own age.

Everything changed when Bentley joined
AdaptAbilities. With Hearts in Action summer
camps now offered closer to home, Bentley
can connect with peers, while his mom has
peace of mind knowing he’s safe, included,
and nearby.

On his very first day, Bentley walked into
camp and was welcomed with open arms.
AdaptAbilities team members and kids alike
embraced him, and suddenly, he wasn’t on the
outside looking in—he was part of the group.
At AdaptAbilities, he found not only activities
that kept him moving and engaged, but also
a sense of belonging that had been missing
before. Bentley has neuropathy that affects
his lower body, so being able to participate
in active camps is essential.

The team at AdaptAbilities makes sure
every child has a voice in shaping their own
experience. Bentley’s parents have seen him
grow in confidence, coming home each day
eager to share how he spoke up for himself,
made choices, and felt truly heard.

Now, when Bentley is at camp, he’s not just
another participant, he’s part of a community
that values his laughter, his energy, and his
voice. AdaptAbilities has given him more
than activities to enjoy. It has given him a
place where he can be himself, surrounded
by people who celebrate him exactly as he is.

Last week was a powerful reminder of the community that surrounds AdaptAbilities.

We joined the celebrations for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at NorQuest College and the Mill Woods Town Centre IDPD Community Fair—and both events were absolutely buzzing. Our team connected with hundreds of visitors, and we were especially proud to see so many AdaptAbilities participants joining the fun, meeting new faces, and celebrating what inclusion truly looks like.

Grateful for the partnerships, the conversations, and the shared commitment to creating spaces where everyone belongs.

We are beyond excited to officially announce that our new St. Albert Respite Centre is now open as of today, December 8, 2025! This milestone marks AdaptAbilities’ first location outside of Edmonton and brings our respite and community programming even closer to families in St. Albert and surrounding areas.

A heartfelt thank you to the St. Albert Rotary Club—your generous support made this new centre possible, and we are incredibly grateful for your commitment to building inclusive opportunities in our community.

Programs now launching in St. Albert include:
• Community Connect
• Out-of-School Care / High School Transition

And we’re just getting started. Beginning January 2026, we’ll be expanding even further with additional programming that creates more opportunities for connection, growth, and support.

Located in a welcoming neighbourhood with easy access to parks, amenities, and public transit, this new centre offers a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all participants.

We can’t wait to welcome families into this beautiful new space.
