Attention Canterbury community!
Our beloved therapy bunny Thelma has made a very bold move this morning… she’s escaped!

Last seen hopping confidently down the hallway, she may be attempting to:
🥕 Raid the kitchen for extra carrots
🌷 Start her own spring garden club
🛋️ Sneak into cozy laps for unauthorized cuddle time

If you spot a fluffy, fast-moving suspect with excellent ears and zero regard for the rules… please report immediately (or offer a gentle snuggle 🐇💛).

Let the great bunny hunt begin… 👀

It starts with care… and becomes so much more. 🤍

In moments like these, you see it, the quiet trust, the steady support, the unspoken bond. What begins as caregiving grows into something deeper. Laughter shared, stories exchanged, and hands held along the way… this is how we become family.

At Canterbury, it’s never just care, it’s connection. 💫

From behind the reception desk…

She’s going to visit her mom today. She comes every Tuesday.

“What time is supper?”

“I’m sorry… I lose things a lot. They told me I have Alzheimer’s.”

“Am I okay?”

I greet a son who has come to visit.

“What time is supper?”

“Do I live here?”

“What time is it?”

“I just live down the block. I’ll walk home from here.”

“My kids need to get ready for school. I need to get home and help them.”

I help paramedics find the right suite.

I call a nurse to let them know a resident has returned from the hospital.

“What time is supper?”

I answer the phone that never seems to stop ringing.

I reassure a resident who is feeling lost.

“I want to go home.”

I give directions to the dining room.

I sit with someone who isn’t quite sure where they are today.

“My mom is coming to pick me up.”
I say, “Okay, we’ll wait for her.”

I accept a delivery for the kitchen.

I pause to listen to a story I’ve heard before… and will gladly hear again.

“What time is supper?”

From where I sit, I see it all.
The routines.
The questions.
The confusion.
The reunions.

The small moments that matter more than most people realize.

And every day, it reminds me that sometimes the most important thing I can do…is simply be here.

This is the heart of a senior living community. And it often begins at the front desk.

Keeping our hands and minds active is important at every stage of life. 🧩

Our Life Enrichment team recently set up a Fine Motor Skills Table for residents to explore throughout the day. Activities like sorting, stacking, pinching, and manipulating small objects help support hand strength, coordination, and dexterity skills that play an important role in everyday tasks like buttoning clothing, writing, and using utensils.

In later years, exercises that support fine motor skills can also help stimulate the brain, encourage focus, and promote a sense of independence and confidence. Most importantly, they offer a simple and engaging way for residents to stay active while enjoying meaningful moments of connection and accomplishment.

It’s just one of the many ways our team supports wellness, engagement, and quality of life each day at Canterbury. 💙

March is Music Therapy Month! 🎶

One of our amazing residents shared a heartfelt piece in the Canterbury Times Newsletter about the way music twines through life here.

Her words beautifully capture how music holds us, connects us, and brings joy into our days.

Stepping into the atrium never gets old. This space brings residents and families together for everyday moments, coffee, conversation, games, and good music. Always great to see our community active and connected, especially with a great playlist from our Life Enrichment team.
