A new space to pause, gather and breathe is now open at the University of Alberta Hospital.

The Fourth Floor Atrium was created with patients, families and care teams in mind — offering a calm place to wait, reflect and have meaningful conversations during some of life’s hardest moments. Inspired by the river valley and shaped by community voices, this space shows how generosity can transform the experience of health, beyond patient rooms and operating rooms.

Made possible through philanthropy, including support from Festival of Trees donors and a leading gift from the Carruthers family, this atrium is already changing how care is felt when it matters most.
