It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gordon Fredrick Kutzner announce his passing on Monday, November 3, 2025 in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 86 years. Gordon was born in Kavanaugh, Alberta on February 21, 1939 to Katie (nee Grekul) and Edward Kutzner.

Gord “Gordie” Kutzner, will be missed by his loving wife, Florence; his children, Kelly, Lisa (Ray), Dave, Corrie-Ann, and Craig; his grandchildren, Connie, Kristy (James), Michael
(Chandra), Nina (Jas), Ethan, and Wyatt; and his great-grandchildren, Julie (Draico), Jessica, Harley, Lia, Edwin, and Sadie; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Ed and Katie Kutzner (nee Grekul); his older brother, Armen; and his older brother, Almer who passed away as infant.

The family would like to extend a very special Thank You, to all the doctors and medical professionals at the University of Alberta Hospital in 5D, for all the care and compassion they provided, to keep Gord comfortable; the family is so grateful.

Gord was a people person and made many connections over the years, through his career in the welding supply industry. In retirement as a condo owner, Gord connected with his neighbours, by assisting with maintenance tasks, on his own time. Gord was a character and marched to the beat of his own drum. He remained to live independently, as he loved to cook. He could yodel and was also a musician. He played a button accordion and entertained neighbours where he lived, including a summer BBQ. Earlier this year, Gord was admitted at the Sturgeon Hospital and summoned for his accordion to entertain the staff and patients. Gord motored down Edmonton sidewalks and streets on his power wheelchair, he named “Bobby”. When he visited Florence at her place of care, he would make a pit-stop at Grandin Bakery to bring donuts for everyone. Gord managed to take Bobby to the Cardiff Trout Pond for afternoon fishing. These kinds of activities kept Gord busy, entertained and active for the last few years, allowing him to live fully, in his own way.

Goodbye my family, my life is past.
I loved you all to the very last,
Weep not for me, but courage take
Love each other for my sake,
For those you love don’t go away,
They walk beside you every day.

Eduardo Acosta
January 20, 1948 ~ September 27, 2025

Eduardo Acosta, a beloved member of the community, devoted family man, and expert welder, passed away on September 27, 2025 at the age of 77 years in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Born in Ecuador, Eduardo’s life was a testament to the power of hard work, generosity, and an infectious, social spirit.

Driven by an unwavering dedication to his family, Eduardo opened the doors for his brothers and family to join him. He quickly mastered the craft of welding, a trade that became the stable foundation he relentlessly planned for his loved ones. He was the ultimate provider, always working and looking toward the future.

Eduardo was widely well known here and in Ecuador for his engaging personality and signature sarcastic humour. While he was a complex man who had his faults, his generosity extended far beyond his immediate family; he was known for being kind and open-hearted to everyone he met.

He knew how to live, too. His great pleasures included a satisfying meal and the irresistible call of music—he loved dancing and being the life of the party. He also found peace tending to his farm. He was immensely proud of his kids and the strong foundation he built for them.

Eduardo leaves behind a legacy of hard work, perseverance, and a generous spirit that touched countless lives.

He is survived by his loving wife, Guislena; his cherished children, Danny, Syliva, Maria, Celina, Gabriela; his grandchildren, Juan-luis, Alicia, Máteo, Natán, Lily; and his siblings, Luis and Graciela.

There will be no ceremony here in Canada as per his wishes he will be celebrated back in his beloved homeland, Ecuador.

Eduardo Acosta

Gail Wanda Tycholaz (nee Blatchford)
August 22, 1945 ~ August 31, 2025

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Gail on Sunday, August 31st, 2025 at the Hardisty Care Home in Edmonton, Alberta, with my dad Dave by her side. Gail was born on August 22, 1945 to Frank & Emma Blatchford in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

Gail & Dave resided in Thunder Bay, Ontario on Frontenac Bay with their only daughter. When Dow Chemical offered Dave a new job as Millwright in Fort Saskatchewan, AB. He accepted and brought the family down over a month later. Where they got a house on 98th Avenue, in Pineview. While there, she liked a variety of activities such as: growing and planting tons of vegetables plus beautiful huge orange and yellow Mum’s in the front yard. They were so large, that us kids climbed in behind them with the buzzing bees. To play a game of Hide And Seek.

Gail enjoyed drawing, doodling large marine pictures, playing Mega Bug on the old computer/tv, taking pottery classes, puzzles, going biking, and reading romance novels. She loved travelling on the road with us, taking long car rides to visit Grandma & Grandpa in Dauphin, Manitoba and all her Family in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

Gail obtained a Driver’s License and overcame her bad nerves to be “Mum’s Taxi Service”. She would pick me up from School in Sherwood Park and drive back home again. She came and visited me when I moved to Victoria, BC and again when I moved to Vancouver years later. My Dad wanted to come and visit after COVID to maybe possibly move here. However both were transferred to separate care homes and would not come together again until the end of January this year. Where they were Roommates finally! She passed away with laboured breathing and Dad was by her side at the time.

She was predeceased by her parents, Frank & Emma Blatchford; brothers, Kenny and Larry; sister, Maxine; and sister-in-law, Theresa.

Gail is survived by her husband, Dave Tycholaz; only daughter, Brandi (Brenda) Tycholaz in Vancouver, BC; brothers, Ray (Mary) and Billy (Terry); sisters, Irene, Edith (Roy), Betty (Angus), Frances (John), Faye, Karen, Patsy and Bonnie.

At Gail’s request, there will be no funeral service. Next year Brandi would like to get relatives together for a dinner or cake/coffee to celebrate Gail's life.

To remember Mum and in lieu of flowers, donations in Gail’s name can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada and/or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Rest In Peace Mum
I will miss our phone calls.

June 20, 1966-June 23, 2025

Born in Ontario, Tim passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2025, at the University Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 59 years. His son Tyler and Tyler’s mother, Liz were by his side.

Tim spent his early years in Ontario and came to Edmonton in 1989 with his brother W***y for work. His son Tyler was born in June 1990, and he was so excited and proud to be a father to Tyler. Although Tim had many struggles in his life, he remained positive and never gave up.

Tim returned to Ontario after the death of his second son Roman in 1992 and came back to Edmonton in 2014, where he reunited with Tyler. They got to know each other after years apart and had many memorable moments together over the past 11 years.

Tim is survived by his son Tyler (Maria); grandchildren, Charlotte, Micah, Roman, and Trini; his sister, Tina and her family in Ottawa. Tim was predeceased by his infant son, Roman; his stepfather, Jim; his mother, Linda; and his younger brother, W***y.

Tim will be remembered for his love of Jesus, love of family and for his big and giving heart. Tim had a great sense of humor and an outgoing personality. He also had many friends in Ottawa, Orillia and Edmonton who will miss his laughter and jokes.

Footprints in the Sand
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with
the Lord. Scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In
each, I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were
two sets of footprints; other times there was only one.
During the low periods of my life I could see only one set of
footprints, so I said, "You promised me, Lord, that you would
walk with me always. Why, when I have needed you most,
have you not been there for me?"
The Lord replied, "The times when you have seen only one set
of footprints, my child, is when I carried you."

Psalm 23: 1-6
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
