A Place to Be Me is our World Autism Acceptance Month campaign, and we are working to raise $5,000 to support inclusive summer camp experiences for Autistic children and teens. With only 2 days left this month, there is still time to help us reach our goal!

Your donations help cover the added costs that make our summer camps welcoming and supportive for every participant — including specialized supplies, community outings, and the additional staffing needed to ensure each child feels understood and set up for success.

Summer camp is where kids build confidence, form friendships, try new activities, and create memories that last long after the season ends. Every child deserves the chance to experience a summer where they feel they truly belong.

Help us create a place to be me this summer.

Donate today: https://buff.ly/qVglJGF and help make an unforgettable summer possible for our participants!

A $100 donation helps provide a splash park day for participants in our summer camps.

Experiences like this help kids and teens build friendships, try new things, and feel confident participating alongside their peers. Community support helps cover the added costs that make these outings possible, including snacks, supplies, and the staffing needed to ensure a supportive and inclusive environment for every participant.

Through A Place to Be Me, we are working toward our goal of raising $5,000 to help create meaningful summer camp experiences where participants can connect, have fun, and simply be themselves.

Hey, Calgary!

We have spots available in our specialized Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten program in Calgary for the 2026/27 school year.

CFASA’s onsite program is designed for children identified as Autistic (or query), or those who require a high level of support in their speech and language development at school. Our classrooms focus on helping children become familiar with the school environment, build routines, and engage with peers in a meaningful way.

Our goal is to prepare each child to transition into Kindergarten or Grade 1 in their community neighbourhood school. We create nurturing and supportive learning environments that celebrate every child’s strengths and individuality!

If you are interested in registering or would like more information, please contact pufcalgary@centreforautismab.ca.

We can't wait to meet you!

Meet Jean!

Jean has been a volunteer with CFASA since February 2025 and has been creating meaningful connections with participants while building skills that support her future career in psychology and education. Currently completing her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and hoping to become an Occupational Therapist or Special Education teacher, Jean first discovered CFASA through a classmate who worked as a behaviour interventionist. Curious to learn more, she began researching opportunities to gain hands-on experience. “Although I had learned about autism in school, I hadn’t had any first-hand experience,” she shares. Volunteering became an opportunity to deepen her understanding and learn how to meaningfully support Autistic individuals.

“CFASA is a really good place to learn and practice skills that support neurodiversity. Beyond the skill development, it’s also an opportunity to make a genuine difference in the participants’ lives. Even small interactions - playing, encouraging, or simply being present can have a positive impact.”

Thank you, Jean, for your positivity, care, and volunteer service at CFASA!

“It’s great to have something special for him to do and to have a place where he fits in.”

Through A Place to Be Me, we are creating summer camps where Autistic kids and teens feel welcomed, understood, and supported for who they are. When environments are designed with care and respect for individuality, participants can relax, build confidence, and form friendships with peers who appreciate them.

Every child deserves a place where they don’t feel different — a place where they belong.

This month, we are asking for donations to help create supportive summer camp experiences where participants can connect, grow, and make meaningful memories.

Your gift makes a world of difference in the lives of our participants. Help create a place to be me.

Meet Lisa!

Lisa began volunteering with CFASA in the summer of 2023 and since then, has been helping participants discover new interests, build confidence, and celebrate small but meaningful successes. Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Biochemistry, Lisa was inspired to learn more about supporting neurodivergent individuals after teaching a swimming lesson to an Autistic child. She wanted to better understand how to help people feel comfortable and achieve their best. When she discovered the CFASA’s approach, she knew she had found the right place.

“I love being able to connect with the participants and see their excitement and growth. Each time they come in they are a little more confident and comfortable, and that is such a fulfilling thing to witness and help with.”

Thank you, Lisa, for your positivity, dedication, and volunteer service at CFASA.

Our top 5 horror movies at CFASA:

1. “We don’t need to adapt the environment.”
2. “They’ll just figure it out.”
3. “One program fits all!"
4. “We’ve always done it this way.”
5. “Inclusion isn’t necessary.”

Terrifying, right?

At CFASA, we’re all about creating spaces where individuals feel supported, understood, and included. Because real life should feel a lot less like a horror movie and a lot more like a place where you can be yourself!

Did you know we offer a wide range of programs and services, including diagnostics, inclusive summer camps, sport, art and social programs, as well as adult programs like Quest, an innovative post-secondary program that helps build skills of independence and supports integrating into the community?

Meet Alex!

Connection and creativity often come together in the spaces Alex helps create through volunteering. Since April 2025, Alex, a Bachelor of Arts Honours Psychology student, has supported participants across programs including Fun with Art, Camp Junior Ace, Tween Social Nights, and PEERS for Young Adults. Through each program, Alex has helped foster welcoming environments where individuals feel comfortable expressing themselves and building meaningful relationships.

“I loved Fun with Art because I had the opportunity to support participants in expressing themselves creatively and taking the lead in making art that represents who they are in a fun, safe environment.”

Thank you, Alex, for your dedication and volunteer service at CFASA.

When supports are the standard, not the exception, something powerful happens — kids feel understood, friendships form naturally, and everyone can simply be themselves!

Through A Place to Be Me, we are creating summer camps where environments are intentionally designed to meet each child’s unique needs. When participants feel seen and supported, confidence grows, social barriers fade, and meaningful peer connections can flourish.

These are the moments that lead to lasting friendships, increased independence, and the kind of joyful summer camp experiences every child deserves.

Your support helps create welcoming spaces where Autistic kids and teens can connect, belong, and build memories that last long after summer ends.
