On February 25, we recognize Pink Shirt Day — a movement that began in Nova Scotia in 2007, when two students stood up for a classmate who was bullied for wearing pink. 💗 What started as a simple act of courage has grown into an international campaign promoting kindness, respect, and inclusion.

At CFASA, this day carries deep meaning. Autistic and neurodivergent children and youth are statistically more likely to experience bullying, and we are committed to creating programs, workplaces, and communities where everyone feels safe, valued, and like they truly belong.

Today, we wear pink — and we stand together against bullying.

We’re excited to share a new program offered in partnership with Mount Royal University: Music for Life – Tiny Tunes for Growing Minds.

This program is designed for neurodivergent children and supports the development of musical skills, creativity, confidence, and a strong foundation for future music learning. Sessions are facilitated by MRU's Suzuki-certified music therapist and capped at a maximum of six participants to ensure a supportive, small-group experience.

Offered in Calgary at the MRU Conservatory for ages 1 to 3 and 3 to 5, classes take place in safe, friendly, and welcoming spaces where children of all abilities can explore the joy of music. Through hands-on, multisensory activities like playing instruments, singing, and dancing, learning is adapted to each child’s unique needs.

In this group, every learning journey is celebrated, and each new skill is seen as a meaningful step toward future possibilities.

Happy Black History Month!

Black History Month is a time to celebrate Black excellence, resilience, and stories—especially those that have too often been overlooked. This year’s theme, “30 Years of Black History Month: Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations — From Nation Builders to Tomorrow’s Visionaries,” recognizes the lasting contributions of Black Canadians who have shaped our past while uplifting the emerging leaders and changemakers shaping our future.

Black Autistic people exist at the intersection of race and disability, and their experiences deserve to be heard, believed, and valued. Research shows that Black children are less likely to receive an early autism diagnosis and are more likely to be misdiagnosed, delaying access to understanding and supports—gaps that can have lifelong impacts.

This month, we’re listening and learning. We invite you to read and reflect on this story shared by a Ayanna Sanaa Davis, in her own words: https://buff.ly/4nAa6t6

Honouring Black history means uplifting Black voices—past, present, and future—and working toward a world where Black Autistic people are seen, supported, and celebrated for exactly who they are.

We’ve gained a lot of new followers over the past year—so we thought it was the perfect time to reintroduce ourselves 👋

We’re the Centre for Autism Services Alberta (CFASA), a non-profit organization that has been supporting Autistic individuals and their families for nearly 30 years, at every stage of life—from early childhood through adulthood.

We offer specialized and BDS services, community and recreation programs, independent living skills and employment supports—and we’ve just launched diagnostic services!

Through everything we do, we build skills, foster connection, and create meaningful opportunities within our communities.

Stick around—we’ll be sharing more about who we are, what we do, and the incredible people who make CFASA what it is.
