This Giving Season, your impact can go twice as far!

Meet Sebastian. Sebastian is a longtime participant in our Quest program. Known for his strong leadership skills and unmistakable sense of style, Sebastian is a self-starter who knows what he wants and works hard to achieve it. Through Quest, he’s built confidence, independence, and meaningful connections.

“I’m proud of accomplishing my bussing skills since joining Quest. I’m proud of my volunteering I’ve accomplished. An activity I can do independently is making my own lunches. I’ve made new friendships and connections through the program. I enjoy going to movies, barbecues, museums and out to eat together.

The program has helped me feel more confident by having meetings about SIL program, making goals, having ISP meetings and also having my shammy job and job as an autism research assistant at the U of A.”

—Sebastian, Quest Participant

Help Make a Difference on the Ice — Volunteer with Our Skating Program! ⛸️

We’re excited to be launching a winter skating program this January, offering highly supported, confidence-building sessions for Autistic children and youth who are learning to skate or looking to build their skills. Program dates and times:
📅 January 8, 15, 22, 29 and February 5
⏰ 5:00–6:30 PM
👥 Up to 10 volunteers needed (18+)

If you’re looking for a meaningful way to give back, build connections, and help create inclusive experiences, we’d love to have you on the ice with us. Comment or send us a DM!

Meet Alma. Alma is part of our Supported Independent Living (SIL) program, which supports individuals w
ho are working toward greater independence at home and in their communities. Through SIL, Alma receives one-on-one support to build daily living skills, navigate important systems, and work toward her personal goals.

“SIL support means having help to meet my goals and create new ones to better my life and become more independent. My life has changed since starting SIL. The support is awesome — staff help me understand things like AISH forms, do my income taxes, and support me in my life.”

Alma also shares just how much the relationships matter:

“The staff are very supportive, kind, and helpful, organizing what I want to accomplish during the day and for my future, like budgeting to pay my bills. The staff are awesome!”

Thanks to Knifewear’s extended matching gift, every donation made through December will be matched, doubling your support and helping create meaningful, personalized programs where Autistic adults can build skills, confidence, and independence. Your generosity helps create these supportive, empowering spaces where individuals like Alma can work toward the lives they want for themselves.

Research participants needed!

Some clinicians and researchers in the fields of dentistry and mental health across Canada including Dal/IWK/UoT/SickKids/ CHEO/ U-Ottawa are conducting a research project, called ToothFairy, which is approved by ethics Board.

Parents living in Canada are eligible to participate in this study if their child is:
1. aged 5-17 years old, and
2. with a fallen-out or removed baby tooth that they want to share.

All parents in Canada are welcome to join: They recruit parents of children without AND/OR with developmental conditions (Autism, ADHD, etc).

Instead of the tooth going in the bin, you can choose to share the tooth for a study looking at the link between mental and dental health. Participation involves a) sharing the tooth by dropping it off to one of our sites or mailing it (the cost of regular mail will be reimbursed), and b) completing a 15-minute online survey. As a thank-you, parents will receive a gift card.
