At the end of December, I posted my intended list of blog topics for my blog and Substack account. If you want to see the list, I've posted the graphic at the bottom of this blog. January's topic was about research logs. I'm posting this in February because, after reviewing the current logs, I wondered if they could be improved. Then I asked one of my genealogy heroes, Elizabeth Shown Mills, if I could use something she posted on her personal Facebook account. That led to further information, and I wanted to take the time to write this to give proper credit to Elizabeth and do a good job. Did you watch Finding Your Roots last night? I found the segment on comedian Hasan Minhaj genealogy especially interesting. His genealogy was incredibly difficult to do, and the pictures of the records were something to see. But what I found so interesting was his reaction. At first, he was chatting and joking, but as he learned more, you could tell he was deeply touched and at a loss for words.

4 major U.K. and Ireland record collections are now live on MyHeritage, including rare passenger lists and Nonconformist vital records that open up entirely new paths for British and Irish family history research.

This release includes the complete surviving U.K. and Ireland incoming and outgoing passenger lists from 1878–1960, alongside England & Wales Nonconformist births, baptisms, deaths, and burials dating back to the 1600s. Together, they cover nearly 40 million passenger records and more than 6 million Nonconformist vital records — all with high-quality images from The National Archives, London. With this update, MyHeritage now offers 678 U.K. collections totaling over 2.03 billion records.
