September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 🧡 All Canadians are encouraged to wear orange to honour the thousands of survivors of residential schools and to recognize the many losses experienced by students, their families and communities. 🧡

We recognize the tragic legacy of residential schools, the missing children, the families left behind and the survivors of these institutions. Remembrance of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.

This National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, explore the rich and diverse cultures, voices, experiences and stories of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. Learn more at: bit.ly/3ZtbVcT

The start of the school year is just around the corner, and it’s time to reset those sleep schedules for a successful year ahead! 🌙

Here are some tips to help you transition smoothly:

💤 Limit screen time before bed. Ensure your kiddos power down all their devices at least an hour before bed to help unwind for a restful sleep.

💤 Create a sleep sanctuary. Make bedrooms a peaceful place to rest. Think limited lighting, cozy bedding and soothing scents.

💤 Start a routine. Set yourself up for the first week back. Begin going to bed and waking up earlier now and establish a routine that works to make sure your family gets enough sleep.

Ticks occur year-round, but they are most active during spring, summer and early fall. You may be exposed to ticks in a variety of settings – campsites, parks, golf courses and even your own backyard. Prevention is first and foremost, and ticks can be avoided by keeping away from wooded areas with high grass, wearing long sleeves and pants and using tick repellent.

If you do discover you’ve been bitten by a tick, practice safe tick removal by following these steps:

🌄 Using fine-tipped tweezers, grasp the tick’s mouthparts at the skin
🌄 Pull up slowly, steadily and firmly until the tick is completely removed
🌄 Save the tick for identification in a sealed bag and place in freezer

Follow-up care is a key part of your treatment and safety. Be sure to call your doctor if you are having problems. Visit https://bit.ly/44NpSE2 for tick identification and more tips.
