Katie Poirier, Registered Psychologist

Katie Poirier, Registered Psychologist Hi there! I'm Katie Poirier, a Registered Psychologist working in Edmonton, Alberta.

I graduated from the University of Alberta with my Masters of Education in Counselling Psychology in 2014. In this role, I believe my priority is to hold what is well in my clients and help them find what they want to flourish. Over the past 9 years, I have worked effectively with people experiencing trauma-related effects and addictions, including eating disorders. I value working with both individuals struggling with trauma/eating disorders and their supporters such as parents, partners, and friends. I believe in helping clients grow and flourish through a client-centered framework that emphasizes equality and empowerment. I bring compassion and humour to therapy, and strive to create a safe place for all to be heard. My particular passions and areas of specialty are in the realm of eating disorders, sexual trauma, and perinatal struggles. I worked at the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton for two years, and have been running support groups with the Eating Disorder Support Network of Edmonton (EDSNA) since 2016. I also worked at Pine Integrated Health Centre, a perinatal-focused clinic, over the last several years. The therapeutic modalities that inform my practice include Emotion Focused Family
Therapy (EFFT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART, a trauma-based therapy). To read more about my work, events and workshops I am running, etc, please visit my website. I also post upcoming events and material on my Instagram - .

So many of us learn early on to manage pain by controlling, perfecting, or disconnecting.
I specialize in supporting people whose trauma and attachment wounds have taken root in how they relate to food and body, helping them return to trust, safety, and self-compassion.

We can explore fit through a connection call if that feels supportive. (I promise I won’t throw fidgets at you despite what I’m doing in this photo. 😎🤣).

While the majority of folks joining this session already are mental health professionals, this is open to folks working with any clientele where therapy services may be a resource you recommend (eg dietitians, chiropractors, physio, lawyers, etc).
📆HOW CAN YOU REGISTER?
Email Poiriercounselling@gmail.com for the Zoom link. We meet Monday, Nov 3, from 9-10:30am MST. (Original time frame was 9-10, however, I’m happy to be available until 10:30 if we need more time!)

Hi folks!
I journeyed to update my website a while back, and boy oh boy the whole darn site started to get a revamp.

Unfortunately ya’ girl isn’t a pro with this stuff and the formatting issues have been plentiful! I’m going to regroup and potentially switch platforms so that I can edit and shift my website with more ease as my practice evolves. ♥️ If you have wanted to share my work/practice offerings with folks, please direct them here for now. I encourage people to reach out via email to inquire about Therapy Intensives, and I promise all that info will be thoroughly outlined in the new online space! I can send info as needed over email for now. 🥹
