💫 Our pelvic bowl is meant to 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 –physically in such ways as the lining of the uterus builds and then is released during a period, a baby grows and is birthed, as well as mentally, emotionally and spiritually through our creativity—what we create and then put out into the world.⁣

⚡️Yet most women have a chronic holding pattern and congestion in this space, which can present as various symptoms, tension and disconnect from this area of the body.⁣

⚡️The tension and patterns of holding in our pelvic space can be deeply connected to what we hold emotionally, relationships with ourselves and others, our desires and needs (both met and unmet), living in (or out of) alignment, stress, ancestral patterns and more.⁣

💫Through Holistic Pelvic Care, these connections can be brought to awareness, recognized and honoured. ⁣

💫They can be explored through encouraging and allowing presence with what is felt and held in the body and in the pelvic space. ⁣

💫Attending to underlying needs and areas in your life that need attention helps bring balance and healing, freeing energy to be used where it is truly desired. ⁣

🎉Let’s Celebrate 🎉

April is my birthday month and my Thrive-versary (marking one year since I joined the Thrive team), not to mention I’m feeling good about spring being around the corner 🌷

So, I want to celebrate!⁣

Those who schedule an Initial or Follow-up Holistic Pelvic Care appointment or a Woman’s Wellness Visit during the month of April will receive a nourishing Women’s Herbal Tea blend 🫖 as well as be entered into a giveaway for a few of my favourite things 🥳

A little about these appointment types…⁣
✨𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 includes a physical evaluation and treatment of the pelvic floor muscles, combined with breath work, visualization meditation and mindfulness practices to release tension and stress in your pelvic floor while also enhancing your body awareness and sense of well-being.⁣

✨A 𝗪𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧’𝐬 𝗪𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 is basically a head-to-toe physical exam that can include a PAP test if needed. It aims to provide you with more insight about your health so you can feel confident that you’re doing ok or you know where to make tweaks before something becomes a bigger issue.⁣

If you’re curious to know more about these appointment types, send me a DM or check out the links in my bio. If you’re ready and want to schedule in April, head to the link in my bio.⁣

PS—The giveaway includes several soul-nourishing items… a Daily Joy Journal , a Harmonic Arts 5 Mushroom Chocolate mix and a lovely candle to set the tone while you sip on your hot chocolate and write in your Daily Joy Journal ☺️

🌸The 𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐜 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬—muscles, tissues, bones and organs. It is also 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 —what we choose to bring into the world, whether through our work, having children and any other creative endeavours.⁣

🌸Our ability to work, to show up in our relationships, to parent, to connect to our creativity and to feel authentic in how we express ourselves is all supported when there is 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐜 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞, physically as well as mentally, emotionally and spiritually.⁣

🌸Holistic pelvic care uses a series of gentle techniques to 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐜 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞, enhancing flow and restoring vitality to this area of the body that is often felt disconnected and detached from. ⁣

🌸HPC incorporates myofascial release through physical touch along with mindfulness, breathwork and visualization meditation.⁣

🌸Through the gentle approach of HPC, women can begin to 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬, bringing them back to their centre. ⁣

🌸HPC can allow softening within the body and a 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 that may be held in the pelvic space and entire being. It can also be beneficial for women experiencing other symptoms of imbalance (such as urinary incontinence, pain with s*x, postpartum recovery, pelvic pain to name a few).⁣

🌸If you are curious about HPC, please reach out. It is an honour to support and hold space for women seeking this type of care along their health journey 💕

The pelvic space consists of organs (reproductive organs, bladder, re**um), bones, tissues (ligaments, fascia) and muscles.⁣

Physically, we can hold tension in this area, similarly to holding tension elsewhere in the body. Tension in other parts of your body may make tension in the pelvic floor muscles worse. ⁣

So, let’s take a moment to soften and release.⁣

〰️Relax your jaw.⁣

〰️Soften and relax your shoulders.⁣

Did you just notice that these areas may have been a bit tense?⁣

Take a moment and check in with other parts of your body for any tension. Gently release and soften any areas that are holding tension.⁣

Lastly, take a slow, gentle breath in through your nose, allowing your belly and ribs to expand out to the sides (without forcing). ⁣

Exhale slowly and gently through your mouth, letting the air out of your lungs, allowing your belly to fall and relaxing your ribs.⁣

This type of diaphragmatic breathing is a technique that can also help relax your pelvic diaphragm (the muscles of your pelvic space).

Myth.⁣

You cannot ‘regulate’ menstrual cycles in perimenopause.⁣
For a refresher on what’s happening in perimenopause, go back a few posts (‘What is Perimenopause’).⁣

Just like you can’t stop a moving train, you can’t change the natural progression of your reproductive system to eventually stop ovulating.⁣

If you’re not ovulating due to a reason other than perimenopause (for example: PCOS, stress, under- or over-fueling), these are things that can be supported so ovulation returns.⁣

While it’s not achievable to ‘balance’ hormones and return to regular ovulation in perimenopause, it is achievable to help you feel better during this experience.

✨Happy New Year!✨⁣

A little belated as I’ve been easing my way 🐌 into this new calendar year after some time off to relax and restore over the holidays.⁣

Instead of resolutions or even intention setting during this transition into 2022, I’ve been more interested in reflecting.⁣

Here are some of the questions I’ve been using to help me reflect:⁣
⭐️ What did I learn in 2021 about myself?⁣
⭐️ What is important in my life and how can I create more space for it?⁣
⭐️ What do I need to practice doing more of?⁣
⭐️ What do I need to practice doing less of?⁣
⭐️ What do I need most right now?⁣
⭐️ What is the next best step to move me in the direction that feels aligned?⁣

What prompts have you found helpful to reflect on during this time? Let me know in the comments! ✍️

Did you know…⁣ 🤓

Estrogen plays a role in stopping hunger signals from acting, which can prevent a rampage of excessive calorie consumption.⁣

It’s been suggested that during the transition into menopause, when estrogen is fluctuating, the effectiveness of estrogen to balance hunger hormones is reduced.⁣

Does this mean that if you’re in perimenopause, you can blame estrogen for not being there to curb your insatiable hunger?⁣
Yes, yes it does. 😉⁣

It also means that during this hormonal transition time, it’s important to be mindful of dieting behaviour, when/how often you’re eating throughout the day, fasting and other strategies that influence how you feel 💖

The terms perimenopause and menopause are often thought of as the same, but they’re not!⁣

Let’s look at how they differ and what to look out for. ⁣🧐

Menopause is defined as 12 months without a menstrual cycle/period.⁣

Perimenopause is the 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 between pre-menopause and menopause, before a menstruator’s period stops. This phase can be 4-10 years long and is the time when most experience symptoms or just feel ‘off’.⁣

What’s happening in perimenopause is that the ovaries’ response to the brain’s message to ovulate declines, eventually leading to no ovulation 🥚. This comes along with hormonal changes 🎢 and often times, simultaneous symptoms of PMS and classic menopause symptoms 🥵.⁣

What to look out for:⁣
✅ Change in menstrual cycle (more than 1 period per month or skipping a month or more)⁣
✅ Change in bleeding (heavier or longer periods)⁣
✅ Change in typical PMS symptoms⁣
✅ More intense period cramps⁣
✅ Hot flashes, night time heat/sweats (particularly in the premenstrual period)⁣
✅ Troubles sleeping (falling asleep or waking up more often)⁣
✅ Mood changes (irritability, anxiety, depression)⁣
✅ Fatigue, brain fog, memory issues⁣
✅ Unexplained weight gain⁣

If you’re not sure this is you, track your cycle and your symptoms for a few months and see what you notice.⁣

If this sounds like you, know that there is help for you to feel better. Speak with your health care provider/s about what you’re experiencing and what options make the most sense for you.

What do you want more of? What is out there waiting for you to take that first step and move towards? ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
And what’s holding you back?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Sometimes we need a little nudge. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Sometimes we need the reminder that we are enough and our limiting beliefs are holding us back.⁣⁣

Sometimes we need accountability and a supportive group of others who are also wanting and seeking more. ⁣⁣

Let The Wild Collective be the place where you start, where you share what you want more of and get the support and accountability to move in the direction of your visions, aspirations and dreams.⁣⁣
