Finding a Place to Belong 💛
Last week, participants and staff from Calgary had the opportunity to watch the powerful documentary A Place Where I Belong, directed by Rheanna Troy.
The film explored the often-overlooked barriers that people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities face when expressing their sexuality and gender identity. It sparked meaningful conversations about inclusion, understanding, and the importance of creating spaces where everyone feels safe to be themselves.
Together, we reflected on how 2SLGBTQIA+ organizations can become more accessible, and how care providers can create thoughtful policies that empower individuals to explore and express their identities with confidence and dignity.
It was a meaningful reminder that true inclusion means ensuring everyone has a place where they belong. We’re grateful to Cloudstreet Media for helping bring this important story to the screen.
