At Vitae Fertility, we teach the Marquette Method. It's easy to learn, highly effective, and taught by RNs.

The Marquette Method is a type of Natural Family Planning which uses Clearblue Fertility Monitors to precisely track your LH and estrogen levels. Vitae Fertility Education is run by a Registered Nurse trained as an instructor of the Marquette Method of Natural Family Planning. By tracking the hormone levels in a woman's body throughout her menstrual cycle the woman is able to identify the time in her cycle in which she is fertile. She can use this information to achieve or avoid pregnancy or to track hormone imbalances she may be experiencing. The Marquette Method boasts the highest efficacy rates of the mainstream NFP methods, outranking Billings, Creighton, and Symptothermal! In regular cycles it is 99% effective at avoiding pregnancy when used with an instructor, and when used during the breastfeeding/postpartum phase it is 98% effective. The Marquette Method utilizes urinary hormone levels and can detect the fertile window more accurately than most other methods. A more accurate detection of the fertile window means less days of abstinence per cycle! In-person courses are available at this time, and online courses will be available in the next few months. Individual and group sessions are offered, with discounted rates for group sessions (5 couples or more).

Have you met Mira, yet? She’s a shiny, new monitor that many, many, many people in the NFP world are talking about these days!

We love it…in the right circumstances:

➡️ When Clearblue isn’t giving clear readings (missed peaks, confusing cycles)

➡️ During perimenopause, when hormones fluctuate wildly

Why? Because...

More data = more insight = potentially more clarity.

📊 Now, it is important to note that Marquette does NOT have fully researched protocols for using Mira just yet (they’re working on it!).

📢 You should also know that Mira actually isn’t needed by everyone.

🙃 Wait…is this perimenopause?

Signs can start in your early 40s:
▪ Missed peaks
▪ Longer or variable cycles
▪ Hot flashes, sleep changes, mood shifts

Perimenopause is the period of time leading up to menopause, it typically lasts 5-7 years before menopause (menopause is defined as 12 months without a cycle).

Marquette has protocols tailored for each stage of this transition, and your instructor will guide you through these changes as they come 🥰

💁‍♀️ Quick Tip: If you’ve booked your first session (or are about to), it’s really best to have your monitor in-hand at the time of your teaching session.

That way, your instructor can walk you through the monitor set-up so you can have it ready to use!

☝️ Am I eligible to use the Marquette Method if I’m not exclusively breastfeeding?

👉 Yes!

All lactating moms are eligible for Marquette’s breastfeeding protocols.

💚 Nursing at the breast?
💚 Pumping and bottle feeding?
💚 Combo feeding?
💚 Baby eating solids or using a pacifier?
💚 Baby sleeping through the night? (Lucky!)

All of those situations are still covered under the breastfeeding protocols for the Marquette Method of NFP. The method remains effective, regardless of what your breastfeeding habits or circumstances are!
