Vitae Fertility Education

Vitae Fertility Education At Vitae Fertility, we teach the Marquette Method. It's easy to learn, highly effective, and taught by RNs.

The Marquette Method is a type of Natural Family Planning which uses Clearblue Fertility Monitors to precisely track your LH and estrogen levels. Vitae Fertility Education is run by a Registered Nurse trained as an instructor of the Marquette Method of Natural Family Planning. By tracking the hormone levels in a woman's body throughout her menstrual cycle the woman is able to identify the time in

her cycle in which she is fertile. She can use this information to achieve or avoid pregnancy or to track hormone imbalances she may be experiencing. The Marquette Method boasts the highest efficacy rates of the mainstream NFP methods, outranking Billings, Creighton, and Symptothermal! In regular cycles it is 99% effective at avoiding pregnancy when used with an instructor, and when used during the breastfeeding/postpartum phase it is 98% effective. The Marquette Method utilizes urinary hormone levels and can detect the fertile window more accurately than most other methods. A more accurate detection of the fertile window means less days of abstinence per cycle! In-person courses are available at this time, and online courses will be available in the next few months. Individual and group sessions are offered, with discounted rates for group sessions (5 couples or more).

💬 Is the Marquette Method effective, even if you have PCOS?

Yep! 🙌

PCOS can make NFP challenging because many methods rely heavily on observing symptoms tied to estrogen, and women with PCOS often have higher levels of estrogen than average….which can make signs like cervical mucus more confusing to interpret.

With Marquette, we track hormone levels directly with the Clearblue monitor. That means you don’t have to rely on tracking symptoms daily in order to identify fertility patterns.

Because PCOS can involve cycle variability and additional complexity, women with consistently short, long, or variable cycles are strongly encouraged to work with a Marquette instructor.

An instructor can help you navigate the variability (random periods) and may be able to help identify hormonal imbalances affecting your cycles.

There's help and there's hope! 💚

💚 Green means go! 💚

Some of you (like many of us on our team) may have a history of trying out different NFP methods…and some of you might be a little frustrated by the subjectivity that can create confusion and more unavailable days than you might want 🤦‍♀️

This is one of the many reasons we love using, and teaching, the Marquette Method.

Marquette gives you more “green days” and gives you confidence in those identified days! 🙌

My breastfeeding journey was different with each kid!

👦 My oldest had a tongue tie, so we had a really hard time getting a good latch.

👦 My second baby was a breastfeeding champ!

👧 And my third wouldn’t breastfeed…I had to exclusively pump with her.

It’s hard getting a good latch and convincing a baby to nurse when you’re sleep deprived and hormonal… and when you add in the stress of, “Oh my gosh… is this crappy breastfeeding even going to keep my cycle away??” 😅 …well, that can feel crippling.

I was so grateful to have Marquette, to know that the method had my back, even if my baby didn’t…

Every woman’s breastfeeding journey is different, and that’s ok! 🥰

Marquette’s breastfeeding protocols cover all breastfeeding women, even if you’re not fully breastfeeding.

👶 Baby sleeping through the night? No problem!

🍼 Supplementing formula? That’s ok!

👩‍🍼 Exclusively pumping? Totally fine!

🙇‍♀️ Having difficulty getting a good latch, and not sure what your breastfeeding future holds? We’ve got you covered!

Start with a free consultation with me through www.vitaefertility.com - it’ll be ok! We can help you figure out this season 💚

In March, Dr. Mary Schneider, Sara Flood (NFPCoach- Marquette Method) , and I had the opportunity to give a talk for the USCCB on Ethics in FemTech.

As a Marquette instructor, ethics and Femtech are always top of mind.
I mean, we use FemTech every day!

This makes it an especially important topic for me, both as an instructor and as a user.

In this webinar, we discuss:
▫ The different types of FemTech available
▫ What it means to work with companies (or use products) that don’t share our values as Catholics
▫ The ethics of promoting NFP approaches that lack research

It was such an honor to be asked to speak on this topic, and to collaborate with others who are passionate about bringing clarity and integrity to an evolving field 💚

🔗 Feel free to watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tx6xIYicBGo (or search “FemTech Webinar – Overview and Ethical Considerations, March 5, 2026” on YouTube).

Have you noticed that HRT is trending right now? Especially for women in perimenopause.

We get a lot of questions from clients about HRT (hormone replacement therapy), they want to know if it’s a good option…and honestly? There just isn’t a blanket answer we can give you.

It really depends on the woman, what’s happening in her cycle, and then symptoms she’s experiencing.

🚩 It would be reckless to have a social media post tell you how to do HRT, but here’s what I will say:

💡 Sometimes, HRT can be beneficial…but HRT isn’t just one thing. There are lots of different hormone combinations that can be prescribed for HRT, and not all hormones are helpful to supplement.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

▫ HRT can mess with your cycles

▫ Some HRT combinations can stop ovulation, and can be contraceptive in nature

▫ The best way to support your body is to supplement hormones that complement your cycle (ie. progesterone supplementation in the luteal phase)

▫ Sometimes HRT is prescribed, but there isn’t always research surrounding the use of it for your specific circumstances

👉 Bottom line… talk to your instructor if you’re considering HRT!

A lot can happen in a year…
and we are so glad we get to journey with our clients through it 💚

When you learn the Marquette Method with us after having a baby you’re not just learning about avoiding or delaying pregnancy when your cycles are perfect…we are here for all the imperfect cycles that occur in the postpartum transition.

👉 Your body isn’t static
👉 Life changes
👉 Hormones shift…especially in that postpartum period.

Tracking your hormone levels directly is especially valuable for women who are in a phase of fertility in which her symptoms are not always reliable, such as the breastfeeding transition.

In fact, research shows that during the breastfeeding transition cervical mucus observations don’t correlate with fertility about 65% of the time…

🫶 The good news?

Research also shows that the Marquette Method is one of the most effective methods of NFP to use during the breastfeeding transition!

A breastfeeding couple who follows all of the rules with the guidance of a Marquette Method instructor can expect to experience a 98% efficacy rate at avoiding unintended pregnancy during their breastfeeding transition.

The Marquette breastfeeding protocol covers you from 6 weeks postpartum all the way through until you wean your baby - at that point, you’ll move into the regular cycles protocol, and we’ll be here to help you through that change!

🤱 Why do we love the Marquette Method Breastfeeding Protocol?
And why do we think you will, too?

1️⃣ It’s Effective: Marquette is the most effective method of NFP available for women in the breastfeeding transition

2️⃣ It’s Objective & User-Friendly: Marquette does not rely on mucus interpretation or basal body temperature readings

3️⃣Involves Less Abstinence: Marquette allows for significantly more days of intimacy than other methods of NFP during the breastfeeding transition

4️⃣ Works with Your Life: Practicing the Marquette Method is a once-a-day commitment. Test your hormone levels in the morning, record your results, and then get back to your life!

After one one-on-one Marquette Method class with one of our Vitae Fertility Marquette Method instructors, you’ll know everything you need to know to get started. We’ll tailor the presentation to the specific fertile phase you’re currently in, so you’ll know precisely how to practice the method correctly from the beginning.

🗓 And, our training package includes one full year of support, so we’ll be with you every step of the way - including when you phase out of the breastfeeding protocols and enter regular cycles!

❔Does the Marquette Method work for women who have irregular cycles?

❕Yes! The Marquette Method of NFP is especially popular, and especially effective, during times when women’s cycles are irregular or disrupted and become particularly difficult to navigate with other forms of NFP.

We’ve helped women with these health conditions use NFP (the Marquette Method) successfully:
▫️Grave’s Disease
▫️Hypothyroid
▫️Hyperthyroid
▫️Anemia
▫️Anorexia
▫️Prolactinoma
▫️Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
▫️Hashimoto’s
▫️Breast Cancer
▫️Colon Cancer
▫️Celiac
▫️Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
▫️Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD)
▫️Endometriosis
▫️Adenomyosis
▫️Metabolic Disorder
▫️Medication induced anovulation

👩‍⚕️ Because the Marquette Method is only taught by doctors and Registered Nurses, the method is potentially much more than a way to avoid pregnancy.

Your charts reveal much about your underlying health, and your instructor will refer you to a health specialist should your charts reveal a possible health issue.

For a long time, the Clearblue monitor has been the standard tool used with the Marquette Method.

Now there’s a new option getting a lot of attention: Mira.

This is exciting for both users and instructors because it gives us a more detailed look at your hormone levels!

And yes, we have started recommending the Mira monitor for some of our clients in certain situations.

But not everyone should make the switch… and here’s why:

🧐 Currently, Marquette’s Mira protocols are provisional, which means they’re still experimental.

👩‍⚕️ But new research is on the way!

The Marquette Institute for Natural Family Planning currently has a number of ongoing research studies with different groups of women (regular cycles, postpartum, perimenopause, PCOS, and women undergoing chemotherapy).

If you’ve been curious about using Mira, let’s talk first so you can make the most informed decision possible at this time - we want to make sure you’re using the monitor that’s most appropriate for your circumstances.

Why is NFP so confusing while breastfeeding?

Short answer?

Because postpartum hormones don’t follow the usual rules.

While you’re postpartum, you might have:
– No cycles for months (Marquette calls this phase “cycle zero”)
– Constant or unclear cervical mucus
– Ambiguous signs of fertility

🚨 So the method that worked before baby can suddenly feel unreliable. Yikes.

But when will things go back to normal?

That’s hard to say! Fertility can return at any time… weeks, months, or even over a year later.

💚 With the right support and tools, you can have way more clarity and fewer days of abstinence if you are trying to avoid or delay pregnancy!

If you want the long answer, check out this page that has lots of great information and stats about the breastfeeding transition and fertility: https://www.vitaefertility.com/marquette-method-breastfeeding/

❓“I’m not sure if this is a period or not…” is a very common inquiry we get from women who are postpartum and trying to understand what is going on with their bodies and fertility.

To put it simply, not all bleeding is a period. Sometimes it’s due to being freshly postpartum. And even if you’re in regular cycles, it could be breakthrough bleeding, withdrawal bleeding, bleeding related to structural abnormalities, implantation bleeding, an indication of a thyroid issue or something else out of balance…the list goes on.

👆The moral of the story: you don’t have to figure out if it’s a period or not, that’s what we’re here for!

We get to know you and your cycles as human beings, and as medical professionals we can interpret the cues and clues your body is giving you to make a very educated conclusion on what’s happening 🙂

🔗 If you are postpartum, Katie wrote a very helpful article on understanding this period (pun intended): https://www.vitaefertility.com/postpartum-bleeding-or-period-nfp/
