Board registered orthodontic specialists for both children and adults A native Albertan, Dr. Jessica Yu was born and raised in Edmonton.

After graduating from Harry Ainlay Senior High, she went on to Boston University, in Boston, Massachusetts, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) in 2008. Boston University School of Dental Medicine is a premier academic dental institution promoting excellence in dental education, research, oral health care and community service to improve the overall health of the global population. In 2010, Dr. Yu received her certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Pennsylvania. UPenn teaches several popular corrective orthodontic regimens, giving Dr.Yu a thorough understanding of the respective merits of each treatment philosophy and the ability to apply them clinically. Since many corrective Orthodontic issues involve adolescents, Dr. Yu focuses strongly on growth and development. Dr. Yu is a member of the Fellowship in the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (F.R.C.D.(C)), the Canadian Association of Orthodontics (CAO), the American Association of Orthodontics (AAO) and the Alberta Society of Orthodontics (ASO). She also facilitates training at the University of Alberta pre-doctoral dentistry program as a part-time clinical instructor. In her spare time, Dr.Yu enjoys all things sports. An avid Oilers fan, Dr. Yu takes any opportunity she has to catch the games on TV or in person. She also plays badminton competitively and is heavily involved in local rugby. Dr. Yu has been playing rugby since her teens and now volunteers her time as the women’s director and U19 Women’s coach for the Nor’Wester Rugby Club Athletic Association. Dr. Yu’s passions are her patients, children and sports. Her love of each shines through in the work she does. In all matters of personal and professional life, Jessica aims to encourage all to “Live Life Smiling.”

Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. We will be opening up our doors to the public again soon. Although we are allowed to open up on May the 4th (be with you), our office will need some time to prepare and ensure that we are providing our services safely for both patients and the team. We will aim to be ready for the week of May 11. We will call you if we need to change your appointments in order to be compliant with the regulations. Thank you for your patience and continue to stay safe and healthy.

Hope everyone is staying healthy and safe during this time. We have been mandated to stop all non-emergency dental treatment and services. If you have an orthodontic emergency, please call our Northside office (780-457-6611) so we can triage the emergency. At this time, we are unsure when we will be open. For now, we have pushed everyone's appointment back by 7 weeks at the same scheduled time. For example, if you are scheduled to see us on March 24 at 4PM, we have you re-scheduled for May 12 at 4PM; March 31 at 9AM, re-scheduled for May 19 at 9AM, etc. Stay healthy and wash your hands :)
