It's !

Millions of people with diabetes face daily challenges managing their condition in the workplace, including stigma, discrimination and exclusion.

This has a negative impact on their well-being.

That's why this year's focus is "know more and do more for diabetes at work".

How can employers know more? They can facilitate educational resources like:
-Offering on-site screening for diabetes to help with early detection.
-Including information on diabetes prevention and management in workplace wellness communications.
-Providing information and signpost employees to external organizations for further support and resources.

How can employers do more? They can provide reasonable accommodations such as:
- Allow employees to take breaks to check blood sugar levels, take medication, or inject insulin.
-Provide a quiet, private area for these activities, including a designated place for disposing of needles safely.
-Have a place where employees can rest if they experience symptoms of low blood sugar.
-Have healthy food options available, create opportunities for movement, and provide access to mental health resources.

Protect your family this cold and flu season with these tips! 🧒

💡Getting everyone six months and older vaccinated against the flu is the best way to reduce your family's risk of getting the flu or dealing with severe flu symptoms.

Other ways you can stay protected is by teaching your children healthy habits and good hygiene. This includes:
- Washing their hands thoroughly and often.
- Covering their coughs and sneezes into a tissue or elbow.
- Avoiding touching their faces specially their eyes, nose, and mouth.

🧹As a parent, you can help keep a clean environment at home by:
- Disinfecting high touch surfaces.
- Opening windows when possible or using an air purifier to ventilate indoor spaces.

October 12-18 is RSV Awareness Week in Canada - so let's talk about it! 👇

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a contagious respiratory virus. It usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms but can become very serious for certain populations like infants younger than 6 months. RSV is common around the world and is most active in Canada during the fall and winter months (when people in Canada are most likely to catch RSV and become sick). ❄️

🤰Getting immunized against RSV while pregnant gives your baby protection for up to 6+ months against severe RSV infection after they have been born.

If you are giving birth during the fall or winter months this year, ask your doctor or pharmacist if the RSV vaccine is a good option for you. The RSV vaccine is currently not publicly funded for pregnant people in Alberta.

➡️Want to book your RSV or Flu Vaccine*? Call us at 780-406-0808 or book online through Alberta's Vaccine Booking System: https://bookvaccine.alberta.ca

The flu vaccine will be available after October 20.
