🌟 Celebrating 5 Years of Dedication at EPINSS! 🌟
Please join us in congratulating one of our amazing Health Care Aides on reaching her 5-year milestone with Edmonton People In Need! 🎉💙

Here’s what she had to say about her journey:

“I could never have asked for a better team than the one I found at EPINSS. When I started here at 18, I was confident but also very new to this country — nervous to talk to people and still trying to find my place. From a shy girl who barely spoke to someone who now walks in with comfort and confidence… this place has been a huge part of my growth.

The relationships I’ve built — with my team and our clients — are truly irreplaceable. This work hasn’t always been easy, but it has always been meaningful. Thank you for every laugh, lesson, and moment of kindness. You made this journey unforgettable, and I hope to keep every single one of you in my life forever.

Fun fact: I started as the quiet, shy girl who barely said a word… and now my team jokes that I talk too much! I survive every shift fueled by tea, still can’t pronounce some Alberta town names, and when I’m not working, I’m probably painting something that may or may not look like modern art. 😄”

🌟 At Edmonton People in Need, we do our best to make everyone feel cared for and heard. 🌟

Recently, one of our lovely new clients — a true cat lover 🐱 — was feeling down because she wasn’t able to have a cat of her own. While we couldn’t make pet ownership possible, our amazing Recreation Team came up with the purr-fect solution! 💡

They arranged a special outing to a local cat café, where she got to spend the afternoon surrounded by cuddly, curious, and playful cats. 🐾💖

Moments like this remind us that compassion isn’t just about meeting needs — it’s about listening, understanding, and finding creative ways to bring joy into someone’s day.

🌹 Honouring Those We Have Lost 🌹

Last week, Edmonton People in Need Shelter Society held our Annual Memorial Service. A meaningful gathering where staff, clients, friends, and family came together to remember and honour those we have lost over the past year.
For many this service offers something deeply important —a chance to pause and reflect on the lives that touched our hearts and the impact they had on our community.

We recognize that grief is a powerful and personal journey, and coming together as a community helps to lighten that burden.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared stories, and supported one another during this time of reflection. 💜

🌟 Person-Centered Care in Action 🌟

At Edmonton People In Need Shelter Society, we believe that true care starts with listening — really listening — to the people we care for.
In this photo, one of our dedicated staff members is out for her daily walk with a client. She recognized that this individual needed to talk through daily concerns and connect one-on-one. Together, they developed a simple but powerful strategy. A daily walking routine.
These walks have become more than just a chance to get fresh air , they’re an opportunity for open conversation, emotional support, and a little physical activity. This approach highlights how person-centered care can be both compassionate and practical, meeting emotional, social, and physical needs all at once. 💛
Our staff are well known for going above and beyond to ensure every client feels heard, supported, and empowered.

🧠 Supporting mental health, one shot at a time 🎱

At Edmonton People in Need Shelter Society, we understand that depression isn’t just feeling sad — it can be heavy, isolating, and hard to talk about. That’s why we create safe spaces where people can reconnect, even in small, meaningful ways.

Whether it’s over a shared meal, a chat with clients and staff, or a casual game of pool, every moment of connection helps break the cycle of isolation that depression feeds on.

Playing billiards might seem simple — but for someone living with depression, it can be a moment of focus, laughter, and a reminder that they’re not alone.

Mental health is just as important as physical health.
Let’s continue to support one another — one person, one game, one day at a time.

We're so grateful to have our musician Sarah bring the healing power of music on 1st floor for clients who are not usually able to attend off unit recreation activities. Her guitar and voice filled the space with warmth, connection, and comfort, reminding us all that joy and creativity can reach everyone, everywhere. 💛

These two ladies bring heart and soul to the team. With kindness in their hearts and smiles that brighten every room, Melissa and Zenny go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome and cared for. Their compassion for our clients is unmatched — they don’t just keep the space clean, they help create a home.

✨ Their laughter is truly contagious, and if you’ve ever had the pleasure of chatting with them, you know just how beautiful they are — inside and out.

We are beyond proud to share that we have officially completed our Accreditation — a major milestone that reflects the hard work, dedication, and heart that every member of our team brings to this organization.

We gathered together last week celebrate this incredible achievement. The room was filled with smiles, laughter, and even a few happy tears as we reflected on the journey that brought us here today. From the countless hours of preparation to the unwavering commitment to our mission, vision and values— this was a moment of true gratitude and pride.

🎈 There was a balloon drop, cake, music and of course sparkling apple juice🍾

To our amazing staff: YOU made this happen. Your compassion, resilience, and belief in what we do are what brought us to this moment. Thank you for showing up — every single day — for those who need us most.

🌟 Hard at Work! 🌟

Today, our office was filled with laughter, lively conversation, and the sound of hard work! One of our well-known and much-loved clients rolled up his sleeves and helped us prepare gifts for the staff — cutting plastic bags, adding bows, and making sure each one was just right. 🎁🎀

There was no shortage of chatter and not a single moment of rest until the job was completely done .💪

It’s moments like these that remind us how lucky we are to be apart of the EPINSS community. 💙
