❄️ The weather outside is frightful… but the music inside is delightful!
Today, our hearts were warmed as these two lovely ladies spent the afternoon performing classic songs for the clients on our secure unit. The best part? Our clients joined in singing along to favorites like Delta Dawn while filling the room with smiles and nostalgia. 🎤🎶

🌺EDMONTON PEOPLE IN NEED SHELTER SOCIETY – Exploring the Muttart Conservatory

Last Friday we swapped winter boots for tropical vibes and took our clients on a fun little adventure to the Muttart Conservatory! 🌴

Nothing beats watching everyone light up as they explore the pyramids and smell the flowers, 🌺

Shout out to our amazing Rec team( as seen in this photo) who make outings like this possible. Together, we create connection, joy, and warm memories, even in the cold Edmonton winter! ❄️

🎶 Music With Joan at Edmonton People in Need Shelter Society! 🎄

Today EPINSS was filled with holiday cheer when the talented Joan brought her guitar and shared her beautiful voice with us. Clients gathered together singing along and and playing instruments while enjoying classic Christmas songs that lifted everyone’s spirits. ❤️

🌟 Celebrating 5 Years of Dedication at EPINSS! 🌟
Please join us in congratulating one of our amazing Health Care Aides on reaching her 5-year milestone with Edmonton People In Need! 🎉💙

Here’s what she had to say about her journey:

“I could never have asked for a better team than the one I found at EPINSS. When I started here at 18, I was confident but also very new to this country — nervous to talk to people and still trying to find my place. From a shy girl who barely spoke to someone who now walks in with comfort and confidence… this place has been a huge part of my growth.

The relationships I’ve built — with my team and our clients — are truly irreplaceable. This work hasn’t always been easy, but it has always been meaningful. Thank you for every laugh, lesson, and moment of kindness. You made this journey unforgettable, and I hope to keep every single one of you in my life forever.

Fun fact: I started as the quiet, shy girl who barely said a word… and now my team jokes that I talk too much! I survive every shift fueled by tea, still can’t pronounce some Alberta town names, and when I’m not working, I’m probably painting something that may or may not look like modern art. 😄”

🌟 At Edmonton People in Need, we do our best to make everyone feel cared for and heard. 🌟

Recently, one of our lovely new clients — a true cat lover 🐱 — was feeling down because she wasn’t able to have a cat of her own. While we couldn’t make pet ownership possible, our amazing Recreation Team came up with the purr-fect solution! 💡

They arranged a special outing to a local cat café, where she got to spend the afternoon surrounded by cuddly, curious, and playful cats. 🐾💖

Moments like this remind us that compassion isn’t just about meeting needs — it’s about listening, understanding, and finding creative ways to bring joy into someone’s day.

🌹 Honouring Those We Have Lost 🌹

Last week, Edmonton People in Need Shelter Society held our Annual Memorial Service. A meaningful gathering where staff, clients, friends, and family came together to remember and honour those we have lost over the past year.
For many this service offers something deeply important —a chance to pause and reflect on the lives that touched our hearts and the impact they had on our community.

We recognize that grief is a powerful and personal journey, and coming together as a community helps to lighten that burden.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared stories, and supported one another during this time of reflection. 💜
