Chronic fatigue syndrome also known as myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS) is not “just in your head.” A landmark genetic study has uncovered compelling biological evidence that the illness has deep roots in our DNA. Researchers identified eight regions of the human genome that differ significantly between people with and without ME/CFS, with many of these areas tied to immune system function and nervous system signaling.

The DecodeME project, led by the University of Edinburgh alongside patient groups and charities, analyzed genetic data from more than 15,000 ME/CFS patients and over 250,000 healthy controls. The findings suggest certain genetic variants may increase susceptibility by weakening infection-fighting abilities or altering chronic pain pathways. For millions of people living with debilitating fatigue, brain fog, and post-exertional malaise, these results offer long-awaited validation and a new direction for scientific research.

While there’s still no cure or definitive diagnostic test, this is a turning point in how ME/CFS is understood and treated. The results could lay the groundwork for genetic screening, targeted therapies, and deeper studies into why the condition disproportionately affects women and how it differs from illnesses like long Covid. Above all, it’s a powerful step toward ending the stigma and ensuring ME/CFS is recognized as a serious, biologically driven disease. Source: DecodeME Consortium (2025). My Journey

Welcome!

I am on a mission to transition Akasha Clinic, as I am growing out of what served me for a while, & going back to my original passions, which is psychology. Akasha Clinic started out as a spiritual-based centre for healing, & although I have been integrating emotional wellness & body-awareness from the beginning with my clients & students, I just didn’t feel truly “aligned” with this purpose, because my focus was more on the spiritual systems. Interesting enough, I have felt resistant on the path to being a “spiritual healer”. Everyone knows this about me, as I didn’t try to be inauthentic about it, but what is true, is that I do believe in holistic healing, & the spiritual aspect to human “being” is equally important to address when healing, especially ancestral healing, as that is our root network of diverse systems, along side the emotional/mental/physiological parts of us. I have a very strong spiritual side, in terms of my encounters & experiences which had lead me to go into this field of spiritual healing, however, I want to make it clear that my spirituality is deeply rooted from the wisdom of my Andean (Peruvian/Chilean) ancestral traditions. My maternal grandmother being one of my first teachers who shared traditional healing methods with me while growing up, as if she she could see my future (Which she probably can lol). I have had phenomenal experiences that also lead me to be “spiritual”, but what I can tell you is that, I do not identify myself as New Age, or religious, I am someone who encounters the spiritual realms without control, or consent. It is just a part of me that I can’t deny... It’s who I am.

Like I explained, Akasha Clinic started off as a spiritual healing centre, & it served it’s purpose, but now, I am ready to progress & be more aligned with myself & practice. What prompted the transition was a series of life changing episodes that occurred a few years ago with my son & some family members. I was surrounded by family members who were exhibiting severe trauma responses, & I understood there was a deeper, serious network of memories & stories in the body to unfold & release. Witnessing my son go through shutdown mode, was the most devastating time in my life, I felt I had to revive him & bring him back to life. I became obsessed with learning about trauma on a different level, that lead me to take some programs & courses to better understand/ help my son & family. Along the way, my sister, Anna, who was already a trauma-sensitive social-worker became inspired to further her education & we both got into Somatic therapies, Trauma-regulation healing, & additional certifications, not only to heal our family, as sisters, but for our community as well. Having my sister on the same path as myself, in terms of trauma-healing, has helped us both to support each other academically & personally. Our family dynamic is improving each day, as we confront the intergenerational traumas, dysfunctions & ANS “dysregulations”, within our family system. It’s a beautiful experience to have someone in my family who intentionally wants to heal, learn, grow, educate & cultivate a safe environment for the family, cooperatively . Where we speak the same trauma-sensitive language, hold each other accountable, & share the same goals for healing. We heal through safe connections

My mission is to experience life, support, & educate anyone feeling pulled to work with me on their healing journey.
