✅ The only part of the eye that can be transplanted is the cornea

The cornea is the clear, dome-shaped front layer of the eye that helps focus light. Because it has no blood vessels, the body is less likely to reject it, making transplantation possible and often very successful.

👁️ Why the cornea can be transplanted
• ❌ No blood supply → lower rejection risk
• 🔄 Can heal and integrate well
• 🧬 Doesn’t need exact genetic matching
• 💉 Can be donated after death

🏥 Common reasons for cornea transplant
• Scarring from injury or infection
• Keratoconus (bulging cornea)
• Corneal swelling
• Severe ulcers
• Failed previous transplant

🚫 Why other parts can’t be transplanted

Parts like the retina, optic nerve, lens, or whole eye cannot be transplanted because:
• They have complex nerve connections
• The optic nerve cannot regenerate
• High risk of rejection
• Loss of brain connection

So, even today, a full eye transplant is not possible.
