TLDR:
-I am among the final recipients of a diploma from the Canadian School of Osteopathy. The school closed suddenly in 2025 and creative solutions were required to help folks like myself who still needed to submit a final research paper to graduate.
-It has been a 7.5 year long journey with countless obstacles and barriers. I paid over $40K out of pocket on my tuition alone, not to mention the 50+ flights to and from campus and my accommodations over those years.
-I’m grateful for the knowledge and for what this means for my career, but I have complicated feelings about how things unfolded with the school and what that means for the future of my new profession.

For today, I will simply celebrate completing this goal 💜

I was so shocked by the arrival of my diploma yesterday that I forgot to celebrate another milestone!

April 1 was 13 years since I was first registered with the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC), which has since been merged into a larger health profession college.

In my 13 years as a massage therapist, I’ve met and treated some incredible people in BC, Alberta and even the NWT. I’ve practiced in a variety of settings and grown so much as a person and as a health care professional.

It feels a little symbolic that the diploma for my new profession arrived on that anniversary. I am now compiling my paperwork so I can join the Alberta Association of Osteopathic Manual Therapists (AAOMT) and begin officially practicing as an OMT 💜

Details coming soon!

I spent my morning as a teacher’s assistant for the University of Alberta’s Physiotherapy Program. First year students got to try some general Swedish massage techniques and learn more about the professions they’ll one day work alongside. It was a great experience for me, as I taught massage therapy in 2017 but have been in the student role myself since 2018! 💜

Not typically my thing but I saw these posts about the significance of this day and they sure rang true for me 💜
I figured I’d share in case this lands for anyone else.

I am looking forward to getting some momentum back!

I love how social media helps me keep track of special dates in my history!

On this day in 2013, I spent something like 8 or 9 hours writing my BC RMT board licensing exams. There were three written exams: Anatomy & Physiology, Clinical Methodology and Jurisprudence.

Upon successful completion of the written exams in Victoria, I was invited to Vancouver the following week to complete my practical exam.

It was an incredibly intense experience at the time, and I see that I’d even posted in 2017 that I’d never put myself through something like that again.

The following year, I enrolled at the Canadian School of Osteopathy 😂

A throwback to last spring’s show with Wild Ones and my first time back on stage in years. As I’m gearing up for the next season of dance and starting to work with other companies, I’ve created a separate Instagram account to keep this page focused on my professional posts. My own dance classes / offerings in Edmonton will be posted here when they’re scheduled, so you won’t miss that. But if you’re curious about my dance posts, please follow me at .wreck 💜

Looks like I need to update my social media so this information is easier to find!

It’s lovely to see that patients understand the quality of care my training ensures they will receive.

I graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Victoria, BC in 2012. My 3,000 hour program was intensive and I will be forever grateful for that training.

Having said that, I’ve also taken a 5-year program in Osteopathic Manual Therapy and am working towards receiving my designation soon.

I’ll continue to provide Registered Massage Therapy for my existing patients, but eventually I will limit new intakes to Osteopathy only. The demand for Osteopathic Manual Therapy - specifically from graduates of 4+ year programs - is growing in the Edmonton area and I am looking forward to being able to offer that care 💜

I am so grateful for all that 2025 provided!

Highlights:
-I moved my practice into a beautiful clinic space and am now working alongside other allied health professionals 🙌
-I started dipping my toes back into teaching fitness and movement classes, and I’ve been revisiting Somatic Exercises with plans to offer these techniques in future classes 🙏
-I reconnected with my love of dance, performing on stage twice this year and I was in a music video project 🎵
-I took a chance and joined a group where I knew no one, and now I have many lovely people in my life who I would happily call my friends 💃
-I allowed myself to be human - to sit with and process the craziness that is life and the human experience. I had many thought-provoking conversations with patients and thanks to that, I’ve grown 💜

Just over three months in my beautiful new workspace but it feels like much longer! 💜 I love how peaceful the clinic is and I’ve heard many times over the last few weeks how much my clients appreciate my warm and cozy treatment room. I’m enjoying having like-minded colleagues to connect with and I’d say that joining Remedial Wellness was a professional highlight of this year .wellness

I have some exciting plans and ideas for 2026, but for now, I am still in the busy season rush and enjoying these last few days of this year!
