In honour of National Volunteer Week, we’re celebrating the amazing volunteers who give their time to Shepherds Care Foundation. Your kindness, patience and compassion are felt in every visit, conversation and moment you spend with residents.

This week, we’ve been proud to celebrate you with special events across our communities as a small way to show our appreciation. This year’s theme, Volunteers Have Heart, reflects the care and dedication you bring each day. Thank you for having heart and for sharing it with everyone around you.

This we’re celebrating a year of cultural experiences made possible through funding from the Government of Alberta’s Ethnocultural Grant.

Through this support, residents, families, staff and community members enjoyed a wide range of culturally diverse experiences including Mexican ballet, Trinidadian folk dance, Pysanka egg demonstrations, drumming circles and more. Each event created opportunities to explore and appreciate different cultures in engaging and meaningful ways.

These experiences helped residents connect, share and build a stronger sense of community through music, movement and hands on activities.

We are grateful to the YourAlberta (Government of Alberta) for their support in making these enriching and inclusive experiences possible.

This year, we’re focusing our fundraising efforts on supporting the Bucket Wish Program. We invite you to watch this short video to see the impact it makes: https://bit.ly/4csz85T

Funded entirely by donations, this program provides residents in need with experiences or items they may not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy. The Bucket Wish Program takes a holistic approach to care, and even one wish can have a lasting impact.

If you'd like to learn more about these opportunities, please contact jbrideau@shepherdscare.org or call (587) 756-8813.

This we’re highlighting the beautiful new fish tanks on the second and third floors at Millwoods. 🐟

Residents love spending time by them, enjoying the calming view and watching the fish throughout the day. For many, it brings a familiar sense of comfort, reminding them of the pets they’ve had at their previous home and making Millwoods feel like a welcoming space.

Thank you to our generous donors who help create welcoming, comforting spaces like this for our residents. ❤️
