💙 is proud to celebrate NP Week and recognize the contributions of our Nurse Practitioners.
Today, we are highlighting Phionah, who has been a Nurse Practitioner for more than a year and brings over 15 years of nursing experience to our Emergency Department. She has worked in both primary care and emergency settings across the Greater Toronto Area, Nunavut, and Northern Ontario, providing compassionate care to every patient she meets.
For Phionah, the most rewarding part of her work is witnessing the magic of medicine, seeing patients arrive feeling unwell and leave on the road to recovery.
Thank you, Phionah, we are very fortunate to have you working alongside our team in the ED! 💙

This week at we are celebrating Canadian Patient Safety Week from October 27 - October 31. SJGHEL embraces the national theme . This week serves as a reminder of our collective commitment across all SJGHEL sites to strengthen patient safety through collaboration, communication, and continuous learning. This is how championing safer care at St. Joseph's Manor.
St. Joseph’s Manor highlights our initiatives in safety in resident care. We see safer care in action through new education provided to all members of our staff, including training with our certified on-team coaches for Positive Approaches to Care by Teepa Snow, as well as through participation this year in Indigenous Cultural and Safety Training through San’yas. Furthermore, our team sees safer care in action through our participation in the RNAO – Clinical Pathways, that aligns our assessments and practices with the RNAO Best Practice Guidelines, with integration with our Electronic Health Records. We celebrate our commitment to all voices for safer care through our active Resident and Family Councils. These Councils are an integral part of our approaches to continuous quality improvement, as they guide us with their real-time lived experience, as we seek to better the care and services we provide within our home. Various integrated services, such as Infection Prevention and Control, work with our interdisciplinary team to ensure our residents have access to the most current information on infectious disease and can make informed choices regarding their healthcare including access to provincial vaccination programs within the comfort of the home. Other services such as imbedded Behavioural Supports Ontario (BSO), collaborate with organizational BSO staff at St. Joseph’s General Hospital, as well as regional geriatric support consultants to support our residents, their families, and caregivers as residents transition to long-term care. Together St. Joseph’s Manor believes that all voices truly are needed in approaches to safer care, as we look to the future of our home and community.
