Transitional vertebrae - it feels like more and more coming over the dissection table all the time.

Anecdotally we hear similar stories time and time again… transitional vertebrae horses often do well when racing, endurance, trail riding (straight line work) but struggle with arena work, jumping (bending intensive work) assymetry, hind end dysfunction & disuniting.

✨ Full rehab board opportunity ✨

Offering here to my clients/followers first.
Full rehab board (not a long term board spot) for a horse in need of postural/injury rehab. Minimum one month.
Our herd of 4 lives full time on a partially surfaced track system. Board features include:

- tested low sugar grass mix hay fed in slow feed nets
- daily cleaning
- gated property with insulated barn and round pen
- two sand pits
- shelter, barn stalls and lots of trees for natural shelter
- loose salt and minerals plus salt licks
- heated auto waterer
- different surfaces and logs etc for proprioceptive and passive physio/hoof health
- pasture time during warmer months
- unlimited miles of trails on the crown land behind

A stall/temporary pen can be set up but the horse would be integrated onto our track system as movement is key for all horses (in addition to the social aspect and freedom of choice).
I have working relationships with vets/farriers/other professionals in the area.
Horses must be barefoot (for safety reasons) and respectful of electric fence. Owners are to provide current/past health records and be willing to work with my vet/farrier/other professionals.

Osteopathy is, of course, the foundation of my work but I will tailor plans to include exercise routines/stretching/in-hand work etc. Healthy biomechanics and overcoming the psychological impact of the injury/condition are priorities. Riding will not be a part of this but classical dressage/relational horsemanship principles will be applied from the ground. A happy, relaxed horse who moves in a healthy way (and able to eventually support a rider if able/desired) is the goal.
Please reach out for more information. This will be a 'best fit' scenario, not a first come first served one 😊

Hey all,

I'm going to put in an order with omfoods.com this week if anyone wants to join and save on shipping 😊
They are my fave place for all things herbs (and other tasty things for humans like tea and snacks).

They are also the best price for chlorella and spirulina I've found, especially in tablet form (more palatable for the ponies!).

🟒 Besides chlorella being a super food of sorts, it also is a powerful supplement for the liver, supports the immune and cardiovascular systems, works as an anti-inflammatory and helps bind and rid the body of toxins and heavy metals.

I also regularly order hormonal-support herbs and teas from them such as raspberry and chasteberry 🌿

I just want to give a big shout out to Makaila at FAR Equine Nutrition for recently evaluating my mares' diets.
Nutrition is such a huge part of what makes a happy, healthy horse. In my work I often see horses struggling with a) weight issues and/or b) unbalanced diets contributing to immune issues/general lacklustre/mineral deficiencies etc. Supplements are generally overdone IMO and it can be overwhelming deciding what to feed.
Makaila helped me streamline my girls' feeding plans and make sure they will be getting what they need through the coming months. I always feed tested hay and it was so nice having someone else evaluate things and make sure I wasn't missing something!! She is not affiliated with any brand/feed company and is very educated and easy to work with.

I highly recommend getting a nutritionist on board if you haven't already. This is just as important as your saddle fitter, farrier, bodyworker, trainer..
If your horse isn't consuming what their body needs on a daily basis, it can be impossible for them to perform the activities we ask of them. This also applies to breeding stock!

In short:
Makaila McLean rocks and is super smart πŸ€“
Test your hay!
and nutrition should never be overlooked!
