On Thursday, July 18th, 2024, we said goodbye to Georgie, one of our mare, equine therapy teammates as she peacefully crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Georgie was a valuable partner in the Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy Program at Charmed Horse Assisted Wellness Centre for many years. She helped a number of clients with some of life’s most difficult struggles. Georgie will be deeply missed by not only those who worked with her on their mental health, and by the treatment teams who adored her, but mainly by her owner Heather, who generously and graciously agreed to Georgie being on the team for she knew the benefits of horses helping people. We are forever grateful for the opportunity of having Georgie on our treatment team. May she gallop the Heavens pain free and keep watch over us. Forever in our hearts. Rest easy Georgie.

DIY Name Tag Project:: During these days of uncertainty, and the possibility of having to evacuate at a moments notice, I have put name tags on all of the horses at my barn. They are made of simple supplies that were on hand - 2 pieces of duct tape about four or five inches long stuck together. Using permanent black marker print the name of horse, barn name and address on one side, and owners name and phone number on opposite side. Then wrap both sides with clear tape so it doesn’t smudge. Punch a small hole at either end and pull a zip lock tie through each end. Braid a portion of the horses mane and tie the end with an elastic. Next place the name tag on the braid and push each pull tie through and fasten tight, making sure to cut off any extra of the plastic tie. Chance is sporting his new name tag in the photos.

This idea may also work for other pets.
