showing off his impressive 350 pound deadlift for 7 reps. This is two weeks after hitting his 1-rep max of 425 pounds. This is almost exactly one year to the day where he started deadlifting just 95 pounds.

It’s been a pleasure watching Rich crush his goals and get stronger, leaner, and faster!

Introducing the newest member to the Motus Strength Health Club Team, Jake Cook! He will be working daily in the mornings, evenings, and Saturdays! 🙏

Jake is a certified personal trainer, nutritionist, and health coach with a strong academic background in human physiology, nutrition, and wellness. He holds a Masters in Human Health & Nutritional Sciences from the University of Guelph and a BSc in Biology from Providence College.

Jake’s health coaching approach begins with fitness as the foundation - focusing on aligned movement, functional strength, and confidence building. Once that foundation is established, he incorporates balanced nutrition guidance and supportive lifestyle habits to help clients improve their energy, metabolism, recovery, and overall well-being. His calm, educational style creates an environment where clients feel supported, capable, and empowered from the moment they begin training.

1) GOING TOO HARD.

Start light. Feel the burn but remind yourself each session is a small brick in the wall of success! It’s better that you leave something in the tank and come back again in a few days instead of going too hard and falling off the wagon.

2) HAVING HIGH EXPECTATIONS.

Rome wasn’t built in a day. And neither will your body. Pick 3-5 exercises and perform them for 3-4 sets each for whatever rep range you want. Make it burn. But remember you don’t need to be perfect (you won’t be). You’re allowed to be a beginner and not be a gym expert on your first week or month.

3) THINKING EVERYBODY IS WATCHING YOU.

Trust me, they aren’t. Other than the odd meathead that’s already been going to the gym for 5 years, the majority of people at the gym right now are just like you. Also, those meatheads are typically very kind people and more than willing to help if you have any questions!

Check out these THREE exercises that you can do at home to stay active over the holidays:

✔️ Elevated Pushup

You can do this one on a kitchen counter or bathtub, just make sure it’s VERY sturdy and won’t move! Keep you body flat the entire way and don’t let your elbows flare out too wide from your body. Perform as many reps as you can with good technique.

✔️ Bodyweight Squat

You can do this one with support by holding onto the edge of a counter if needed, or do it how Tim is seen in the video - either works! Toes slightly pointed out, keep balanced pressure on heels AND toes. Perform 15-20 reps.

✔️ Mason Twists

Do this one on a mat or comfortable carpet. Slightly lean back with hands clasped together and TWIST at your trunk nice and wide. Perform 20-30 total reps.

We recommend completing 3-5 rounds total, with some rest between each round if needed!

It’s been an amazing month at and our clients stayed so consistent despite all the holiday fun leading up to now!⁠💪🏼

We want to wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from our team here. We hope you have a great time with friends, family and FOOD!⁠😀

There’s so much more to health than eating salad and exercising everyday. We believe in a holistic approach to health and that could include enjoying some rum n’ egg nog, delicious turkey dinner, late night beverage with the extended family, or just not thinking about work and actually RELAXING.🙏🏼

The holidays are to be ENJOYED. So go enjoy yourself this Christmas break and if you’re one of our clients be sure to still practice all the healthy habits we talked about!⁠
