We are very honoured to open our space up for such a worthy cause. We will let Owen Parnell of Acuity Acupuncture explain this in his own words:

I will be offering a by-donation NADA circle at Errant Empire every 2nd Tuesday of the month beginning March 17th at 7pm. You can book online at ErrantEmpire.com.

The goal with this initiative is to raise funds and awareness for The Umbrella Society, whose mission is “…development and delivery of innovative and unique services to support individuals and their loved ones struggling with substance use issues.” The broader hope is to make holistic health care more available to everybody, and to lower barriers to accessing care, while recognizing our shared humanity. 100% of the profits will be directed to Umbrella Society, to support the work they are doing. As they have recently taken significant cuts to their government funding, community fundraising is more important than ever.

I’ve been considering how I can make a greater benefit for our community. How can holistic health services be made available to those who need them most? A treatment may offer the greatest lift to a persons quality of life. You may be familiar with the Community Acupuncture model. It’s a way for one practitioner to treat multiple people simultaneously in a shared space, creating a cost-effective, efficient and community oriented healing experience. I’ve worked in settings like this before. It doesn’t pay as well as private appointments, but helping more people is more purposeful, and I wish to begin working in this way again.

NADA stands for National Acupuncture Detoxification Association. “In the mid-1970s, Michael Smith, a medical doctor at Lincoln Hospital in the South Bronx area of New York, modified an existing system of auricular acupuncture into a simple technique for the treatment of many drug addictions as an alternative to methadone. This selection of ear points proved to be extremely effective in the treatment of addictions, and became what is now referred to as the “NADA Protocol””

Hello Divine,

Your body is a messaging system.

Sometimes those messages aren’t comfortable; they aren’t things you want to hear.

..bringing the enticing tingles that trail behind a gentle touch on the skin. ..creating delicious pathways along your tastebuds when you eat a juicy peach. ..feeling alive through the discovery of movement and all the ways you can interact with the outer world...bringing depth of longing and connection, of comfort and passion, through the emotions of sound.

When you shoot the messenger, disengaging from all that the body is telling you, you also forget to feel all the pleasure it brings.
